NORTH PHOENIX – Islamic Community Center of Phoenix will have a groundbreaking ceremony this afternoon for its new $5 million center. (Where is the $5M coming from? Saudi Arabia?)

The new center reflects the growth of the Islamic community in Phoenix. It will have room for 1,000 worshippers.

“People will have a place to pray and learn about Islam,” said Ihsan Saadeddin, vice chairman of the center.

The new site is at 2515 W. Orangewood, on the corner of Black Canyon Road, between Glendale and Northern avenues on the west side of I-17.
