In yesterday’s post Sharia Momentarily Thwarted in NY, the key word was momentarily. The passing of the libel tourism bill couldn’t be celebrated long.
Stephen J. Brogan, a lawyer for Bin Mahfouz [other bin Mahfouz law suits here], did not immediately return a phone message requesting comment. Read the court opinion here.
It turns out the Stephen J. Brogan is also representing EL-SHIFA PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRIES COMPANY and SALAH EL DIN AHMED MOHAMMED IDRIS. If El-Shifa Pharmaceutical doesn’t ring a bell – it should.
On August 7, 1998 the U.S. embassies in Tanzania and Kenya were attacked by al-qaeda, killing 200+ and injuring 5,000+ a full three years before most of us ever heard about bin Laden or al-qaeda. In retaliation, then President Bill Clinton, ordered air strikes (video) on several locations including the El-Shifa plant which was believed to be manufacturing chemical weapons for bin Laden (the CNN report – they almost seem pro-America back then).
The FBI claimed to find evidence at the plant after the bombing, confirming intelligence they had leading to the attack. Detractors have since attempted to discredit the intelligence and claim the factory was simply for pharmaceuticals. Brogan and his team of American lawyers have been fighting for the $50 million settlement ever since.
It should be no surprise then that the Saudi’s are seeking to silence American truth tellers, and using American lawyers to silence them. Brogan, by the way is the top dog at Jones Day, one of the largest international law firms in the U.S. Jones Day contributed $230,000+ to the Obama campaign.
MSM finally gets the story – says Ehrenfeld’s book is the “source of trouble”
