What is a sharia compliant hotel anyway? Do they have special wife-beating rooms? Free stones to punish your wife when she’s bad? Separate beds for each wife? No doubt bacon won’t be on the menu.
Whatever they are, apparently they are planning significant growth thanks to all the U.S. petro dollars. It takes dhimmi, infidel consultants to plan the financing and development however.
New move on Sharia-compliant hotel chain
DUBAI: A financial real estate company is being established to develop plans for an international chain of Sharia-compliant hotels with 150 properties worldwide, up to 90 of them in the Middle East and North Africa.
Dubai-based Almulla Hospitality, which is planning to tap into the growing Muslim travel market with a hotel chain operating under universal codes such as no alcohol and halal food only, has announced that it has signed with the Jasper Capital Group of the UK to structure the real estate company to develop the plan.
Almulla Hospitality chairman Abdulla Mohamed Almulla will provide further details of the chain operating under the brand names of Cliftonwood, Adham and Wings at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference today at the Madinat Jumeirah Hotel, Dubai.
“At the launch of Almulla Hospitality we announced our goal is to achieve, within five to seven years, 150 properties worldwide under management,” Almulla said.
“We are very pleased to assign Jasper Capital Group of the UK to structure a plan toward achieving our goal.”
Jasper Consultancy Limited, a member of investment banking and management consultancy Jasper Capital Group, chief executive Stewart Jack said he was delighted to work with Almulla Hospitality to achieve the strategic objectives in Sharia-compliant hotel management. Jack has previously worked in the banking industry in the UAE and managed the development of an Islamic bank project in Europe.
Almulla Hospitality plans to grow its property portfolio through management contracts, joint venture investments and selective acquisitions across the world using a variety of investment structures. All financial structures involved will conform to the Islamic ban on interest.
“What makes our plan different in the Islamically-compliant hotel market will be our Sharia-compliancy board; our three brands serving all market segments based on top international standards; and a clear focus on the cultural aspects of our target market,” Almulla added.
The Muslim traveller market is growing around the world due to increasing wealth combined with conscious lifestyle living and represents 10 per cent of the world tourism market – one of the fastest growing segments.

Sounds logical that someone tries to monetize a growing market.
March 22, 2009 at 8:55 AM
Except when the tool used to monetize it and the market to supposedly monetize seeks to destroy you through multiple means including financially – and no sharia-abiding economy has ever been successful – that should be the ultimate of hints.
Nonetheless, it’s all smoke and mirrors in the name of Islam.
