“Yo, it’s embarrassing…”
First Michelle Obama admitted she had never been proud of America in her adult life, now Obama says he is embarrassed by Americans because of the English language. More race baiting and denigrating English only speakers. (Reader ‘ender’ points out, Obama actually said: “Yo, it’s embarrassing”.)
Of course Hussein Obama presumes all Americans only speak English and that all Europeans speak multiple languages. He fails to consider why people all over the world speak English rather than any other language.
That Obama could be president, and pandering of this nature is truly embarrassing.
Update: Obama can’t speak Spanish but he can recall “the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent.”
Is this the kind of thing Obama would have kids read in Spanish?

Memin Penguin yanked from Walmart as Obama says everyone should speak Spanish

I don’t disagree with anything you say here but, please, correct your grammar and spelling.
American’s and European’s, the way you use it, shouldn’t have an apostrophe.

Corrected. We could use an editor if you know someone who might be interested.

How pathetic– a presidential candidate apologizing for the alleged *general* cultural uncouthness of Americans. Oh, sorry, make that “gun totin’, Bible-thumpin’ racist Yanks.” I believe that was his barely concealed implication.
Did the enlightened multi-lingual societies of Europe get up two self-inflicted consecutive world wars (on top of centuries of provincial bloodshed) so they could feel superior in their post-war humility and post-modern zeitgeist?
If we are arrogant in failing to live up to some phantom cultural standard, Obama is doubly arrogant in his suggesting an absurd and unnecessary corrective remedy. Shouldn’t he be the source of *our* embarrassment in the present case? There is nothing wrong with learning different languages, but there is nothing wrong either in restricting oneself to one very complex and magnificent language– English– for all of one’s life. There is no shame in that.
By the way, I think he said “Y’know” in a badly slurred way, rather than “Yo”.

No one has mentioned that Obama’s comments were likely made in the context re making English the United States’ “official” language. The USA does not currently have an official language. The national organization to have English legislated as the official language of the USA is led by an Hispanic American.
P.S. MOST COUNTRIES have “official” languages – some have several. For example, Canada – the USA’s northern neighbor – has both English and French as official languages.
Having an official language is the NORM. It is Obama who is out of step here. Support for English as the official language of the USA is VERY HIGH. There is nothing “racist” or “bigoted” about that.
