A quote from Cranmer on his blog, 2 Sept. 2008. A Christian group in Oxford has apologised to the city’s Muslims for having the audacity to organise a day of prayer during Ramadan. Oxfords Muslims found it ‘ill-conceived and insensitive’, not to mention ‘grossly insulting and inflammatory’.
The Muslim Education Centre of Oxford (MECO) has accused the Evangelical group ‘Open Doors UK’ of preaching ‘evangelical propaganda’.
Do not Muslims preach Islamic propaganda? Do the Christians in Oxford complain about this? Would the Muslims of Oxford apologise or even care if the Christians did complain about it?
But the greatest offence was taken because the Christians had dared to refer to their event as a ‘Call to Prayer’. Apparently, only Muslims may now use this term [...]

Everyone should continually write to the government about anything they disagree with re Islam… I write constantly. I vote against Islamic issues on any petitions I find, I argue against Islam continually.
Labour is Islamising all it can, and my vote is not for them in the next election.
I live amongst Muslims and its like living in Iran, wailing from minarettes at 5am and masked women scowling at you. Out England is becoming Islamic.
I despise Islam and all it contains.
I wrote to the queen today!

The UK is completely multi cultural and there’s nothing you can do about it, I’m white and British and I like the diversity I find in Oxford. I enjoy the different cultural influences you find in shops and buildings and speaking to people from different backgrounds. Colin, the Queen is not going to do anything about the islamic influence taking place in England, she hasn’t been able to make an impact on parliament or the country for hundreds of years. As for parliament, parliament has to respond to the people and if a large proportion of the people are Muslim then their interests have to be listened to.
Do you get shouted abuse at my Muslims? Do they intimidate you with violence? Nope, that’s more likely to happen at kickout on a Saturday night by some pro nationalist chavs. You’re just afraid of what you don’t understand, and what does being British actually mean to you anyway?? We’re all mongrels with all sorts of different blood, anyone who thinks they’re pure celt is an idiot. Apart from Eastenders and Manchester United what really makes you feel British?

Not the other way around? I was responding to the comments above, I realise what the article was about, but it seems people are offended by the Muslim presence and like panamboy stated have “islamiphobia”. The Muslims weren’t offended by Christians literally praying during Ramadan though were they, it’s calling it a “call to prayer” which is absurd.

we aren’t going to attempt to discern what others think or feel but it is very clear that the majority of readers/commenters here have absolutely no objection to muslims & many muslims comment here, link here, and we post many articles written by muslims
the fact that muslims WERE offended by what Christians “called” their private meeting is case & point…why should muslims care at all – they shouldn’t…the absurdity of the comment is very much in line with appeasement of the supremist islamic ideology that many ignore, some purposely…
it’s a fine example of muslims with Christianophobia…that is also in line with muslims who have Jewophobia or Israelophobia or Hindu-ophobia or Buddism-ophobia…etc etc… infidelophobia…non-believerophobia…kaffirophobia… take yr pick

Salaam,
Christian or Muslim, everyone has the right to pray to god, regardless of which month it is. I too am a muslim and I do not understand why this seems to be such an issue.
Religion is a personal belief, a bond between you and god. By almost guide people in the right direction but do not try and force your opinions on others.
Allah (god) is most mercyful and welcomes all. Who are we to judge… spread love and unity… do not comprimise your belief by such such stupid ‘phobias’ and judgements, that islam itself is against.
If you are a true muslim, you would not creat such hatered…

3. had 20 + wome in stock for sex called wives
4. promises heaven full of virgins for sex

7. he killed whole villages of jews
8. Looted and plundered the enemy
9. beheaded his enemies and encourages killing of non-muslims

well said sister razia…..pl have the right to pray as they want. as muslims,we pray during easter, christimas and other christian holidays, so they can pray during ours. i believe that the muslims being outraged by this were being petty and i hope they don’t think allah is pleased by this….i thought allah wanted us to praise his name….not be mean to others cuz they don’t pray…..their will is their will.
