US appeals NJ Muslim imam’s immigration case

By creeping

What is it with Muslim imams lying on their United States immigration applications? Do they think no one reads them? Do they think they can escape punishment or simply receive a slap on the wrist, then remain in the States? Do they fear if they tell the truth they won’t be granted a visa? Or is lying standard practice that is justified in Islam?

Whatever the case, here are two more cases of lying imams. A New England imam takes his lumps, admits his guilt and agrees to leave the country.

The other in Jersey, continues his fight. The common line on Qatanani is that he has been extremely helpful to law enforcement since 9/11 – but what exactly has he done that’s been so helpful? Has he ratted on anyone? Helped to break up any radical cells? Because his followers claim he is just an innocent imam who has no information – so how could he help ‘law enforcement’ agencies?

Federal immigration officials are appealing the case of a New Jersey Muslim leader who won his fight to remain in the United States, a move the leader’s spokesman says may damage hard-won trust between Muslims and law enforcement.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement wants the Board of Immigration Appeals to review the decision to stop the deportation of Mohammad Qatanani, a leader accused by some federal officials of having terrorist ties but praised by others as being an important ally.

“We hoped they wouldn’t pursue this case, as a gesture of good will, and because of the important need to reconnect with our community and build trust again,” said Aref Assaf, a member if the group Americans 4 Qatanani, which supported the imam’s immigration fight. “It seems that there has been a political decision at a higher level to pursue this case, and they continue to persecute – not just prosecute – our community and our leader.”

Assaf said word of the appeal was spreading quickly to mosque members through e-mails, phone calls and word-of-mouth, and that an announcement would be made to the mosque members who attend Friday prayer services.

“We thought it was only a case against the imam,” Assaf said, “but now we’re seeing it as a case against the community and all Muslims.”

(that’s a pretty big leap Ass, but how do you plan on responding? riots? boycotts? refusing to “help” law enforcement in the future? did you think getting a few dhimmi politicians to come to your mosque for el-Eid dinner would erase the fact that Qatanani has/had ties to Hamas, lied on his immigration application, and has led a mosque known for inflammatory rhetoric? yeah, forget those troubling aspects – it’s a racist conspiracy against ‘all’ Muslims)
