Broward County Transportation Spokeswoman Fooled by Islamist groups

By creeping

A few days ago, the Miami Herald shed more light on the ads tauting Islam and taunting Christians and Jews. The title alone is inaccurate – Campaign to debunk fallacies about Islam in full swing. This propaganda campaign is in full swing but debunk it does not.

As it is with many media-friendly, Islam-related events, the more time passes, and the more information seeps out, the more troublesome reality gets. Last week we commented on the Plainfield, NJ police captain who invited an anti-American, pro-Osama bin Laden, pro-sharia ‘cleric’ to a NJ school and the reporter who gleefully wrote it ignoring any mention of the terrorist relation. Now we find out that the Broward County, Florida, Transportation spokeswoman has also been duped and not only allowed terrorist-related groups to buy ads on her buses, but is now speaking positively on behalf of said terror-related groups, ignoring facts and ignoring the offensive Islamic propaganda.

While you can’t tell from the ads, just the slightest amount of research indicates that two Islamist groups, ICNA and CAIR are behind separate Islamic propaganda on south Florida buses as Creeping Sharia posted last week here. In fact, CAIR-FL’s lead man even wrote an op-ed in the Miami Herald which was then posted in the Yemen Observer touting that Florida Muslims sponsored the bus ads. Why do Yemeni’s care about Florida? Slightly more research indicates CAIR-FL’s main man actually registered and presumably owns the dawa website supporting the bus ads.

The bus campaigns are actually based out of Chicago, where the head of ICNA – the Islamic Circle of North America – has supported bus ads in other cities. Here’s what the Miami Herald reported Transportation spokesperson in Broward (north of Miami/south of Palm Beach) had to say about the ads:

The educational effort began in Chicago and has spread to other areas, including Miami-Dade and Broward, where buses have been painted with the message for eight weeks, from early November to the end of December, according to Phyllis Berry, spokeswoman for the Broward County Transportation Department.

Berry said she has fielded many calls from people who wanted to know why the county was promoting Islam.

”It’s been very interesting. . . . We have received calls and e-mail from people who expressed concerns, but after explaining that we have a policy that does not allow anyone’s religion to be demeaned and there is such a thing as the First Amendment, people still may not like it but they understand,” Berry said.

Apparently Berry doesn’t understand that Islam continually demeans all other religions and the director of the ad campaign has written extensively demeaning Christians, and Christmas, as well as about Jews killed by Muhammid (links and quotes below).

She said that in the past, buses have carried advertising for churches, arranged by an independent company.

”It’s freedom of expression, but my initial thought was it shouldn’t be allowed,” Berry said. “But it’s about fairness, it’s about the law and it’s about what it’s like to live in America. We don’t always like the law, but it’s there for a reason.”

Berry said many of the complaints were prompted by the mention of Judaic prophets such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus in the same line with the prophet Mohammed. But ”they did not demean anyone’s religion,” she said.

So now Phyllis Berry is judge and jury on what constitutes demeaning someone’s religious beliefs? Maybe she should focus on judging the character of the terrorist-related groups she accepts money from to advertise on her buses. Maybe she should have gone to the CAIR propaganda website that refers to the Bible as “sketchy biographical material, poorly researched and compiled.” Is that not demeaning to some folks?

Again, with some more in depth research, one is able to relatively quickly discover very disturbing facts about the sponsors of the Islamic bus ads in Florida and other cities.

ICNA – Islamic Circle of North America

“Islamic Circle of North America is a leading grass roots organization which seeks to obtain the pleasure of Allah (SWT) through working for the establishment of Islam in all spheres of life.”

The language restates the doctrine of a website run by Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, the Indian branch of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), a major Islamist political party based in the countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh, as well as India and the South Asian immigrant diaspora. The JI Hind website states, “If Muslims have faith in the efficacy of Islam, which has been a potent force for the good of mankind throughout the ages, it is not only the necessary demand of their faith, but also their altruistic duty to propagate its principles, especially at a time when the country is in search of a stable basis for building the edifice of its life.”

The desire to “establish” and “propagate” Islam in the public sphere by both ICNA and JI, is a clear indicator of its theocratic political intentions.

Moreover, links between the two organizations are easy to confirm. Maulana Muhammad Yusuf Islahi, sits on the central board of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind website, and is also on the board of “Why Islam,” a project of ICNA. Islahi also leads Muslims in prayer in a Why Islam produced video at the end of July 2008 called ‘Why Islam Introduction.’

Why Islam also has a website that provides information to the public about Islam. Such efforts at dawah (Islamic proselytizing) are utilized by ICNA to spread its message that Islam has the answers to society’s problems, as its mission statement suggests. The problem is that it also promotes anti-Semitism, misogyny and homophobia.

In summary, ICNA is a front for JI, a violent movement that advocates revolution and the erection of an Islamic order. ICNA identifies “Dawah: Inviting Mankind to Submit to the Creator” as its“top priority” and lists conversion efforts among its “expectations from all members… as follows: Spend a minimum of 4 hours a month on any of the following: Dawah to non Muslim (Dawah Field Trip, Prison dawah Trip, Dawah Response through Mail or Phone).”

Another radical text included in the [ICNA] welcome package is Towards Understanding Islam, penned by JI founder, Syed Abul Ala Maududi. In it, Maududi states, “The greatest sacrifice for God is made in Jihad, for in it a man sacrifices not only his own life and property in His cause but destroys those of others also.” Source: ICNA Welcomes New Muslims to Radicalize

ICNA’s Director of the Why Islam campaign – Sabeel Ahmed

Ahmed has written that:

“showing happiness and joy on Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Good Friday is like shaking hands with Satan and telling him to carry on the good work. Indeed Islam came to tear down the pillars of kufr and replace them with the pillars of Islam”

In words Berry might understand, destroy the faith of those who don’t believe in Islam and replace their faith with Islam. HELLO! Bus ads are just one method of converting the kufr. He continues:

“Armed with facts on Christmas and eloquent words of Islam, the door of Dawah to the Christians should be wisely open. When the Christians see us restraining from observing Christmas, they will curiously ask us for the reason. This opportunity should be used by each single Muslim to discuss Islam and invite non-Muslims to Islam…a Muslim can’t enjoin in any aspect of Christmas in the disguise that Jesus is our Prophet too.”

So, if you can’t join the fun, attempt to belittle it with bus ads during the month it occurs. Ahmed, if Jesus is not your prophet why do you need his name on your bus ads? To fool the kufr’s? When answering your fellow Muslims, you tell them not to disguise Jesus as yours, but on your bus ads you are doing just that – disguising Jesus as your prophet too. Taqqiya?

In other writings Ahmed clarifies why The 800 Jews were Asking for it! and that Islam: The Single Standard yet Broward County willingly promotes his bus ad dawah claiming it is not offensive to anyone. Imagine how the Ft. Lauderdale Muslim population would react if Jews made proclamations about Allah or Muhammid on Broward County buses? Would those buses still be in tact?

CAIR – The Council on American Islamic Relations

CAIR’s founders have been convicted of terror related crimes, current and former members are under a RICO investigation, and CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator to a convicted terror funding organization (HLF). Joe Kaufman writes about CAIR’s Hate Bus:

At the same time, CAIR has sponsored its own bus project, nearly identical to ICNA’s. Across CAIR’s buses, one can read, “ISLAM: The Message of Abraham, Moses, Jesus & Muhammad.”

Both statements are incredibly offensive to Jews and Christians, as they imply that Abraham, Moses and Jesus – revered figures in Judaism and Christianity – were practicing Muslims and are solely part of Islam. Indeed, Islam came on the scene 2700 years after Judaism and 600 years after Christianity. And while there is no problem with Muslims praising their religion, there is certainly a problem with those denigrating the beliefs of others.

Furthermore, using absolutes, such as “the way of life” and “the Message,” displays an air of superiority over that of other faiths, a concept that all Muslim fanatics brainwash their children to believe.

CAIR and ICNA, in their attempt to bring new followers to Islam with their respective bus initiatives, have proceeded to offend members of other faiths. Their use of Christian and Jewish religious icons to prop up their own extremist agenda reveals their true nature, one of Islamist supremism.

The jihad in Florida, with the ever-complicit media, and now Broward Transportation Department, is in full swing. Here are two options for combating Broward’s decision to promote Islam:

Voice your concerns and opinions by contacting BROWARD COUNTY TRANSIT – Administrative Offices – 954.357.8300 or via email comments form.

Or simply call either of the Islamic dawah hotlines and ask them some pertinent questions. Also ask why some Ft. Lauderdale Muslims were caught on video proudly and defiantly chanting “Nuke Nuke Israel” at a Muslim rally for Hamas.

From one of the linked articles:

Berry said many of the complaints were prompted by the mention of Judaic prophets such as Abraham, Moses and Jesus in the same line with the prophet Mohammed. But ”they did not demean anyone’s religion,” she said.

What a load! For Christians, Jesus is much more than a prophet.

3:38 pm est, I called and expressed concern to 1st operator who then transferred me to a “Trina” though she would not confirm that was her name as it was spoken hastily when answering the phone. I voiced my concern over the ads and she stated they “are ending in a couple weeks” or sooner due to public calls. She did not have a date. When pressed she said, “How about tomorrow,” as she was told her job was to “assure the public” over calls they have received.

I asked when they are due to expire per the contract, and she said the “advertising agency responsible for the ads would have that information,” Lamar Advertising. I specifically asked who in the Broward County Transit office would have that information and was given the same line about Lamar Advertising. Again, I specifically asked who in the Transit office would have this information and she asked for my name and “what agency are you with.” I gave my name and stated I am not with an agency, as I am not and was placed on hold at 3:43 pm. Still holding, 3:59 pm. And at 4:02 pm someone picked up the line and then hung it up.

4:03 pm, the operator says there is no “Trina” who works there but when I answered what it was in reference to, I was placed on hold. Still holding, 4:06 pm. 4:07 pm answered and I was informed by a woman they are actively removing the ads and they should all be removed within the next couple of weeks. They have a fleet of 300 buses but she does not know how many have the ads. This will take some time as the maintenance yard is in Copen and they also have buses in Ravenswood. She states the ad was supposed to run for a duration of 3 months but they are pulling the ad and canceling the contract early due to public concern. When I ask her name, she informs me it is “Trina Williams,” but when I inform her the operator had no such employee, she tells me she is a temp working there for 3 months and she is sorry she hung up on me as they have a new phone system. I asked for the name of a Transit employee who gave her the information and she said it came from the marketing section, Manager, Ms. Phylis Berry. I asked to be transferred.

After having to state my request to speak with Ms. Berry twice to another person, I was transferred. Ms. Berry stated she is in charge of marketing, 50 buses have the ads, and the contract ends January 26, 2009. They could not cancel the contract with Lamar Advertising but if any buses are seen with the ads after January 26th, the public should call and she will get on it. Ms. Berry stated she was going to look into how they will not have to run these ads again as they were “legally required” to do so. When I clarified they are no actively removing ads as I was previously told, Ms. Berry stated there is no “Trina” who works there but they do have a temp receptionist named “Tara Williams” and she will go inform her of the correct information to supply to the public.

FeFe – very interesting…so the ads will run until someone complains? Call the dawa hotline – we have a link to some great questions – and you can always ask why Muslims were chanting to nuke Israel and were supporting Hamas terrorists at a FTL rally last week

During some travels on the New Jersey Transit last week, in the Newark Penn Station I saw a paid advertising poster for “whykoran.com” (or something like that).

Appropriately, some commuters had added some comments to the poster, such as:

looks like muslims in the UK are excited about this bus ad event too – you see it’s not just a friendly gesture….

  7. Hanif Says:

Not all of us are so fanatic. Recognizing, honoring, loving the Prophet Jesus (Christmas, Good Friday, Easter) is not kufr. Only fanatics can call respect an act of kaffirs. Halloween is the “holy evening” or “holy night” before “All Saints Day”, a day when the martyrs of Prophet Jesus are remembered and honored, as martyrs are remembered and honored in Islam.

It may well be that the dates are not the best to be chosen. It may be that not all the forms of respect are in perfect accord with Islam. But they are not absolutely contrary to Islam. If they are wrong, research, scholarship, and reasoning will reveal that to the mistaken people. Fanaticism will make more martyrs, will increase hatred and misunderstanding, and make some people less willilng to listen to that scholarship and reasoning. In other words, fanaticism is counter-productive. Islam is not a fanatic religion. Islam is a religion of reason, consensus, and peace. Those who violate these three principles are not true Muslims. They are misthinking, egotistical, fanatic hypocrites.
