Several weeks ago, after Congressman (Democrat) Keith Ellison returned from his Muslim hajj where he stated he forgot he was American, we questioned who paid for his trip. Did he pay himself or did taxpayers fund his trip?
His spokesman, Rick Jauert, said Ellison paid for the “pilgrimage” himself. It was later revealed of Ellison’s trip to Mecca that, “His expenses were paid for by the Muslim American Society of Minnesota.” The Powerline blog outlines MAS’ troubling ties to the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood who’s objective is to defeat America from within via infiltration.
Others in the blogosphere attempted to get clarification from Ellison’s campaign. The Dinah Lord blog actually called Ellison’s office and was told his Islamic pilgrimage was a personal trip paid for by Ellison himself. The blog very astutely pointed out that Ellison’s web page is Hamas and Hizbollah green and yellow as opposed the traditional red, white, and blue that most American politicians logically choose.
Now, FOX News.com is reporting that the national director of MAS is refuting that story as a myth and urban legend while Ellison’s office continues to claim MAS did pay:
Representatives for MAS-Minnesota did not return calls or e-mails requesting comment. But Mahdi Bray, the national director who campaigned for Ellison, denied his group had funded the congressman’s pilgrimage, calling the story a “myth” and “urban legend” that needed to be laid to rest.
“Keith Ellison is a member of Congress who knows that congressmen don’t take trips sponsored by nonprofits. That would be a breach of congressional ethics,” said Bray, executive director of the MAS Freedom Foundation.
But Ellison’s office told FOXNews.com that MAS had indeed paid for the congressman’s hajj.
“The trip, funded by the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, was fully reviewed and approved in advance by the House Ethics Committee,” Ellison’s office said in a statement to FOXNews.com.
The office, which did not say how much Ellison’s trip cost, defended MAS as a highly regarded interfaith organization with many ties in Minnesota.
So the question still remains – who paid for Ellison’s hajj and why is Ellison’s office giving different answers to different people? Maybe because a Muslim Brotherhood subsidiary paid for his trip? And what were his conversations about in Mecca where he met with groups of 60-70 people, obviously all Muslims, acting in an unofficial capacity as a U.S. Congressman? We know when he returned he urged Muslim Congressional Staffers to fill the 8,000 government jobs Barack Obama plans to make available.
Ellison recently went on Al-Jazeera news, the pro-jihad, pro-terrorist Arab news network, so it should be relatively easy for American news outlets to get an interview with him. If they can get him to clarify who paid for his Islamic hajj, maybe they can also ask him if he will renounce capitalism in favor of sharia law like all hajji’s were urged to do, and if he agrees with Ayatullah Khamenei’s message to the Hajj pilgrims which included that the U.S. was the enemy of Muslims and that jihad would defeat the U.S. Maybe Fox can follow up on that.
