Muslims jailed for arson at publisher of book about Muhammad

Update to these previous posts - all this hysteria was set off by an associate professor of Islamic history at the University of Texas – who happens to have a competing book on Islam.

Three Muslim men who poured petrol through the letterbox of a publisher who they had heard was printing a controversial book about the Prophet Muhammed were today each jailed for four and a half years.

Ali Beheshti, Abrar Mirza and Abbas Taj planned to set fire to Gibson Square Books after discovering it was going to publish The Jewel of Medina, a book about the Prophet and his young wife.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner John McDowall, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command and Senior National Co-ordinator Counter Terrorism, said afterwards that photographs, tapes and documents found at their homes had shown the “violent mindset” of the trio.

“They did not care whether anybody would be killed or injured when they poured diesel through the letterbox and set fire to it,” he said.

And so they got just 4 1/2 years in jail? Where they are likely to become more violent and further study Islam.

  1. Under current jailtime tarrifs, each will serve only half of the 4.5 years.
I’d have them for the long drop.

  2. From Jihad Watch:

Beheshti first made international headlines three years ago after he was photographed with his 18-month-old daughter, Farisa, who he had dressed in a pink bonnet celebrating al-Quaeda during a protest against Danish cartoons of Mohammed.

He also proudly described her to reporters as the youngest member of the terror network as he waved banners vowing to ‘Massacre those who insult Islam’ and promising ‘Europe, your 9/11 will come!’…
