Oregon con: Imam fools officials to build sharia compliant non-mosque mosque (updated)

This is one of those stories you won’t read about elsewhere. Intended to comfort non-Muslims, it’s just another example of the refrain, “War is deception.” When is a mosque not a mosque? When kufr zoning laws need be overcome and dhimmi government officials need be fooled to build one.

Muslim center not a mosque, director says

Muslim Community Center director Imam Muhammad Najieb wants to make one thing clear about a new community center being planned for his organization in Northeast Portland: it’s not a mosque.

Facing pre-existing stereotypes about Muslims in a post-9-11 world, Najieb and director of youth and community events Shauku abd’Hafidh Mlimaji say they were nervous going into their first meetings with the city of Portland to discuss construction of a new community center for their group at North Vancouver Avenue and Killingsworth Street.

“The fear was that people would hear about our project and factor in negative stereotypes of Islam or call it fundamentalism,” Mlimaji said. “But those fears were quickly dismissed. City staff kept calling it a mosque, and once we clarified that this is a community center, we saw a cloud being lifted from their faces.”

“Mosques are for praying only,” Najieb said. “Our former leader has said that we need to get away from the concept of our center being only a place for Muslims. This will be an Islamic-based place that’s open to everyone.”

Creating a building that balances Islamic religious reverence with American secular spaces for the community would be a challenge, which is why Najieb sought out non-Muslim architects Garrett Martin, David Suttle and Dave Hurley of Architecture Office.

“I think the fact that Najieb and his partners chose non-Muslim architects for this project speaks to the fact that their community is about building bridges,” said Suttle.

Got all that? An Islamic center where there won’t be any mosque or prayers? Non-Muslim architects were chosen to design the project (as if there were a horde of Muslim architects bidding for the job).  And the center will be for non-Muslims too? Dawah anyone? It gets better, get your boots and shovels.

But the architects, Najieb and Mlimaji also wanted to incorporate the American ideal of combining genders and cultures in the space. To do this, a balcony will be constructed above the main prayer area, which will be separated by a translucent partition, which will allow men and women to pray in the same room together while maintaining the comfort of the women.

The partnership turned out to be a learning experience for the architects, especially when it came to the Muslim tradition of separating prayer spaces for men and women.

Yeah, they were just schooled learned in the art of taqiyya. Talk about translucent. Didn’t we just read that this won’t be a mosque? Mierda! It’s not only a mosque, it is a sharia compliant mosque. Can it get any better? Yes it can.

“There is a notion that we think women are second class citizens,” said Najieb. “But the separate places of prayer are an issue of comfort zones for the women. The prayer area is the only public place they can take off their coverings and relax.”

“During our first design presentation, the first response was from a woman who said, ‘We’re getting separate prayer space, right?’” said Suttle. “It became clear that the separate areas are by the women’s request.”

The elaborate and well-designed hoax plan to fool the infidels into dhimmitude includes a subservient Muslim woman demanding segregation in accordance with Islamic sharia law. Apparently the unnamed woman who conned Suttle conveniently forgets that she is under no obligation to where any covering or veil and if she chooses to take it off she can do so anywhere she wants without repercussion. Unless her Muslim counterparts would hold that against her in some way? The female section of an Islamic mosque is not exactly a “public place” either.

So, in these dire economic times, how will this Muslim group pay for the nearly $4 million dollar mosque slash dawah center?

“We anticipated more interest, but sometimes, that’s not the reality,” Najieb said. “But there has been interest from groups outside our inner circle within the last several weeks that leads us to believe we can continue with the project next year.”

Another refrain: follow the money.

The Muslim group’s website has a very telling quote on its fundraising webpage that does more than suggest they are building a new mosque:

The architectural firm’s website clearly states they will be designing a mosque:

Recently I got together with the architects from local firm Architecture Office to hear about a proposed design for the Muslim Community Center of Portland.

The mosque would be home to the city’s oldest Islamic congregation, formed in 1969, and is to be located on North Vancouver Avenue just south of Killingsworth.

Screen shot taken for when that page is updated and they claim linguistic ignorance. There are images of the project as well and a description of the minaret, mihrab, and design opposite all the infidel structures in the area so it can face Mecca.
