CBN: Five Muslim Soldiers Arrested at Fort Jackson in South Carolina (updated)

CBN Exclusive: Five Muslim Soldiers Arrested at Fort Jackson in South Carolina (note: CBN has updated the original post here, suspects were “detained” not arrested)

CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the “Fort Jackson Five” may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, DC area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Coming as it does on the heels of November’s Fort Hood jihadist massacre, this news has major implications.

Fort Jackson is the largest and most active Initial Entry Training Center in the U.S. Army, training 50 percent of all Soldiers and 80 percent of the women entering the Army each year.  Providing the Army with trained, disciplined, motivated and physically fit warriors who espouse the Army’s core values and are focused on teamwork is the post’s primary mission.

The post has other missions as well. Fort Jackson is home to the U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, the U.S. Army Chaplains Center and School and the Defense Academy for Credibility Assessment (formerly the Department of Defense Polygraph Institute).

Fort Jackson is home to the Army’s English as a Second Language (ESL) program. The program is for Arabic, Dari and Pashto speaking individuals who wish to become translators for the US Army.

We also learn they were part of the “09 Lima program”. The “09 Lima program” recruits Muslims willing to serve in Iraq or Afghanistan, offering them an expedited path to citizenship.

Also recall this incident at Fort Sam Houston in early January that went totally unreported initially, and nearly three weeks later when more details emerged – it still went unreported: Muslim threatened beheadings, caused base lockdown trying to free Ft. Hood shooter is released.
