Connecticut roller rink submits to sharia

Rules, and laws, for Americans, and rules and laws for Muslims living in America. Is this not sharia? Where does it end? Muslim woman claims she was not allowed to roller skate in scarf – NYPOST.com.

A Muslim woman claims that a Connecticut roller-skating rink discriminated against her because it wouldn’t allow her to skate in her headscarf.

Marisol Rodriguez-Colon, 40, said she was “mortified” when she and another female relative showed up for a niece’s birthday party at the Ron-A-Roll rink in Vernon and were barred at the door.

The venue’s rules, posted at the entrance, read: “No Hats. No Headwear. No Exceptions.”

Colon said her religious hijab shouldn’t count under that policy — and tried to appeal to a rink manager.

“We wear this for religious reasons,” Colon said. “But they didn’t want to hear that.”

The manager, Colon said, gave the women two choices: take off the headscarves, or wear a helmet over them.

Taking off the hijabs was “not an option,” Colon told WTIC-TV in Hartford.

She said she has worn the traditional headscarf for 16 years and has it on “wherever I go.”

She and the other relative went back to their car and missed the party.

“I wear this with pride,” Colon said. “I was mortified — by asking someone to wear a helmet you are actually ostracizing us.

“You are singling us out and showing everyone there is an issue — that something is wrong with these two women.”

Ron-A-Roll management issued a statement spelling out its “no headwear” policy. It said helmets are offered for safety purposes.

“You are not allowed — you are not welcome here. That is what that says to me,” Colon said of the statement.

She said she was insulted that the rink would deny entrance to people “because of what they believe and what they are wearing because of those beliefs.”

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said yesterday it filed a complaint with Connecticut’s Human Rights Commission.

Several years ago, University of Albany student Zahra Shah was barred from wearing her headscarf at an upstate New York roller rink.

That arena, citing insurance reasons, also banned headwear.

An employee at the time told Shah that other skaters could trip and get hurt if the hijab fell off.

When Shah explained that she wore the scarf for religious reasons, one rink employee told her it was like a cowboy “religiously” wearing a cowboy hat.

After a barrage of phone calls from activist groups and others, the rink management apologized and said Shah could skate with her headscarf.

Activist groups like CAIR – whom a federal judge has confirmed is a front group for the terrorist group Hamas? That kind of activist group? Converts backed by the Muslim Mafia implementing the Muslim Brotherhood’s plan to perfection. Contact the rink at the link above.

Update: This was not happenstance. They weren’t invited to the party and they weren’t at the rink to rollerskate. And they caused a scene:

Janine Gallo, who organized the party, said she signed a contract that assured the club that the rules would be followed by her guests. The two women, according to Gallo, were not on the roster and created an unnecessary scene.

“They were shouting that they were going to sue,” said Gallo.

The worker told Gallo that all she needed to do was put a helmet over the headscarf.

“The kids were having a great time, but they had to make it a racial thing,” Gallo told FoxNews.com. “It really shouldn’t be.”

  1. This is a common rule in skating rinks, and probably the person claiming “discrimination” knows it. The reason to ban scarves and loose flowing clothes is for safety in a skating rink. It’s a legal liability issue, and it is for the safety of all of the guests. This is an abuse of the courts for a payday. I hope the rink counter sues.

  2. If this person is allowed to skate with this headscraf on and it falls off and I trip on it, I would sue her and the rink! Case closed!

  3. It’s wrong when a private company in the U.S. cannot set their own policies and continue business by them! Head gear other than safety head gear was not allowed for anyone.

Sharia uses our own laws against us. Serves us right, however, as we took our God out of everything, so it is being replaced with their god, sharia law…one day soon Americans are going to wake up and say how the hell did that (sharia law) happen here?

Well, this is how! Wake up America! It should not be allowed in any country to over-rule that country’s or state’s laws! Freedom of religion is freedom to worship, not freedom to replace or over-rule! It is obvious that freedom of religion is NOT an aspect of Islam’s sharia law!

    • Ro,

The idea of the Separation of Church began long before our founding fathers. It began with the enlightenment thinkers who inspired them. Many of the things that you are probably thinking of, are quite recent, We only to put in “God we trust” on our coins around the time of the civil war, and we only added “the words under God” to the pledge in the 1950′s.

If we’re smart in some cases we will be able to use the establishment clause agianst Muslims trying to impose their religion on us. The first amendment is not compatible with what Stealth Jihadists are doing, and they know it. Lets use that agianst them.

      • Yes Damien, you are correct…yet we now have more and more people, Americans, offended by and suing over the use of “god” and/or prayer. Our country walks further and further away from god as lawsuits against anything “god” clearly show, and the ways of hasatan increase.

We took prayer out of schools, out of many public gatherings, and the fact of when it was added may be fairly recent, but that in no way negates the importance of “one nation under god.” That is something that it seems we no longer subscribe to.

We were a united country, one nation under god; we are no longer a united country and the divisions grow especially against mainstream christianity. Christians have already been arrested and removed from public places, public sidewalks in a few states for trying to disseminate christian materials outside of muslim gatherings!

I pray you are correct about the establishment clause! It’s obvious that the laws of Germany, France, England have not been sufficient. And it could very easily be the same problem here as there, and the fact that public officials for those countries have made cautionary statements regarding sharia law, should open our eyes!

I have nothing against anyone worshipping their god as they desire or having no god if they choose, as long as no life is endangered in the process, others are not intimidated, threatened, or killed! Sharia law does not does not allow for that and is definitely creeping on in! Shalom!

        • Ro,

You should also realize that its the same establishment clause that was used as an argument for taking state sanctioned pray out of public schools. Technically through, you can still legally pray in a public school. You just can’t have the state officially endorse it, which is a good thing. I don’t see God punishing us, just because the state won’t endorse Christianity in public schools.

        • Now that said, I definitively don’t approve of Christians being prosecuted for preaching the gospel at all. They have a right to do so, so long as its not on the public dime.

  4. Just another sign of the burgeoning culture clash that will doubtless culminate into some sort of war, or the US will simply become another Europe vis a vis the approach to these arrogant people.

  5. The roller rink did the right thing by not letting them in. Rules are rules and all of us have to follow them not just some of us. It’s the same as No shirt, No shoes No service. I can’t walk into a resturant without a shirt and demand they let me in because I tell them it’s part of my reliegon. If they can’t follow the rules or if they can’t handle our rules then take your muslim ass back home.

  6. number1)THE headress was a safety issue, not a religious one;WHAT IF;;;;MY RELIGION WAS ONE WHERE I HAD TO WEAR A BOTTLE OF WESSON OIL ON M,Y HEAD;WOULD I BE ALLOWED TO SKATE?NUMBER 2)…Should a private bizz be allowed to set its rules?PERHAPS MO ALONG WITH CURLY AND JOE SHOULD SET THE RULES.RELIGION DOES NOT PRECLUDE REASONABLE RULES OF SAFETY IN A MODERN REPUBLIC.REASONABLE;SHE COULD WEAR THE HEADRESS WHERE IT IS SAFE…….CAN I GET A FAT-WA ON DAT UN ?

  7. Dhimmi fools cave again. Since the cowards won’t stand up to these hypocritical tyrants, I guess the only solution is no muslims in North America.

    • Exactly den! I don’t care that muslims live in this country…but as residents or citizens or Americans of this country they should be required to live by our laws and stop trying to impose sharia law…if muslims don’t like the laws of this country, then get the hell out of dodge and go to a country where sharia law rules! But noooo, it must be too difficult for them for they want to live here! NO SHARIA LAWS IN THE U.S.

  8. she knew she couldn’t wear it from before. She went there specificly to attack America, like the tarts applying for jobs in stores that sell pork.

Should have had the TSA check her before going into the rink.

  9. I emailed the roller ring and am waiting a reply to this..Here is what I said..

“Hi..I read about the problems that you had with the muslim lady about wearing the hijab or the scarf. I am sorry that you had to go through that but I think that you should have stood your ground and not given into her.
My question is this..Since she is allowed to wear the hijab or scarf, if my wife and I come to you rink and my wife wants to wear a scarf, we are not muslim, she will be allowed to? Or if I want to wear my Cowboy Hat I can. If not this could be a lawsuit for reverse discrimination. Rules are rules. Can you give me an answer about this? Thanks..Keith M Johnson”

    I’ll post if I ever get a reply.kaafir

    • They are standing their ground. On the website, linked above in the article, they have added the following under dress code: (A securely fastened helmet is the only headwear permitted). Under dress code it lists: “No hats or headwear of any kind including sunglasses, combs worn in the hair, handkerchiefs, head wraps, sweat bands, Do-rags, wave caps, scarves, bandanas, etc”.

The roller rink that caved to sharia is in New York, is a few years old , and involves a different woman. Ron-a-Roll is in CT. They also have had a complaint filed against them by cair with the Connecticut’s Human Rights Commission. I think Ron-a Roll’s trouble is just starting.

  10. That is the problem with them. They inconsiderately wear their headgear everywhere even though they are not nuns.

  11. she is 40 yrs old ; worn the scarf for 16 years, did she feel discriminated against those 34 years she didn’t wear it.? they are slowly conforming America before our eyes.

  12. If it were my skating rink I would allow the head scarves only after the women signed a waiver that if any injuries were sustained because helmets were not being worn the skating rink would not be liable for any medical bills or lawsuits…
Rules are rules has nothing to do with religion

  13. The skating rink GAVE IN and she can wear her scarf!!!
Oh please tell me this is a mistake and they have not given in!!
If so we need to play by their rules by not letting ANYONE enter a private business with Muslim attire on! Claim it hurts business, or a safety issue, or just your policy. CAIR will become overwhelmed with having to defend all the law suits. The worst thing that can happen is you will have to allow the vermin back in……which is what the roller rink did anyway.

  14. I also emailed the rink. All you have to do is click on the link above in the article. I suggest everyone do the same.
Let them know how you feel about this. I also suggested they do some research and suggested a few sites, including this one.

  15. Damien…what I realize is this country is in extreme danger of losing it’s foundations to sharia terrorism! And yes I deliberately use the word “terrorism” for that is exactly what sharia law is–terrorism!

There are no if’s, and’s, or but’s with sharia, and one either bows to islam and accepts their creed OR YOU DIE!!!! That’s everyone–not just Christians and Jews; it includes every person regardless of their belief systems or lack of beliefs!

Now some will say that it is impossible that we, the great US, could never fall to sharia terrorism; however, proponents of sharia are here and are established in most all the states, more than well funded, and challenging every law we have, and with some of our great govt officials cheering them on or assisting with the funding!

I’m sure the European countries had the same thoughts of safety ! The manner in which they have infiltrated those countries is the same in this country! Establishment clause? It’s not working so far!

    • Ro,

The establishment clause is not working to stop them so far because too few people have been using it agianst them. We need to stop with the political correctness and call a spade a spade. If groups like the always ACLU did their job when it came to Islam, and Judges didn’t make exceptions for Muslims that they would never make for Christians, this would not be happening. Sharia and our constitution are clearly incompatible. We need to shame leftists who won’t stand up to Muslims trying to subvert our constitution.

      • Granted we will have to do more, but it would a huge step in the right direction.

      • But the Establishment Clause is irrelevant…the First Amendment, in its spirit, only applies to public property.

      • Damien…I do agree with you, I really do…And yes IF ACLU, judges, would do their jobs and not make exceptions for Muslims, this (creeping sharia) wouldn’t be happening…HOWEVER ACLU, judges, etc are not doing their jobs based on our constitution and exceptions are being made. Shame the leftists? LOL…good luck with that one…keep me posted on how that one works out!

  16. She should have to buy her own CCM helmet – it’s only $30.

The rink should have said no, and dare her to sue, and then file a motion to dismiss for lack of standing. On principle (even if four states, CT not among them, disagree), the First Amendment ends at the line between public and private property and does not go one inch further.

    • huh, so if I want to go into a muslim “community center” can I yell discrimination since they won’t let a white anglo saxen Christian in there? I think we should all demand to be let in those “community centers” and mosques…why should they get to discriminate against us? hey..muslims, if ya don’t like the rules of the USA, leave! we will show you the door to your old country….

  17. Some of the posters are correct – it’s private property – no state action, no 42 USC 1983, no due process claims – so screw the head scarf argument!!!!

    • Exactly! Unless the private property is using government funds, the establishment can serve whomever it pleases.

She wants to rollerskate with a hijab? She needs to tuck it in her shirt and buy a $30 CCM helmet.

  18. and guaranteed she was not allowed ON the rink, but was allowed to come in and attend the party. ALL rinks are like that – you can wear what you will IF you are not ON the rink but just want to eat pizza and drink soda and walk around.

    She sounds full of sheet.

  19. They are doing this to intimidate, file lawsuits and bring in sharia..I wish I had my own business so I could say NO! I would have no qualms standing up to these stealthers.

If OTalibama would enforce the Constitution, they wouldn’t be getting away with this. No ideology which seeks to overthrow the Constitution shall gain a foothold. It’s bad enough we have Obama, but for regular businesses to be such dhimmis and cave is beyond belief. What is it that they don’t remember about being FREE? About the last 1407 years of terror? Of 9/11?

She knew what the rules were and wanted to push her agenda. If she doesn’t like our country, then she can get out!

  21. The headgear is tradition not a religioius belief and until that distinction is made this arguement will only give more of this groups demands legitimate attention where none is justified. Some Islamic countries demand women wear headgear, some don’t so where is the
head coverning a strict religious following. Bull!
