White House admits national intelligence chief clueless on UK terror arrests

An update on Monday morning’s post, 12 “men” arrested in UK terrorism plot. Pretty sad when a small-time blog is aware of a major jihad arrest before the Director of National Intelligence in the U.S. via White House admits national intelligence chief was left in the dark about UK terrorism arrests | Mail Online.

Red-faced White House officials admitted today that the nation’s top intelligence chief was mistakenly left in the dark about key terrorist arrests in London.

The humiliating confession came after Director of National Intelligence James Clapper stumbled when he was asked about the raids by ABC anchor Diane Sawyer.

The British arrests to foil an alleged al Qaeda terror plot got wide coverage on TV news shows and newspapers. But the spy chief appeared stumped when asked whether there were any US links.

Sawyer was talking to Mr Clapper, Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano, and John Brennan, the president’s assistant for homeland security and counterterrorism.

Mr Clapper was caught totally off guard by Sawyer’s reference to the London arrests, and Mr Brennan hastily broke in to comment on the situation.

Sawyer told Mr Clapper she was ‘a little surprised’ that he ‘didn’t know about London’, to which he replied: ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t.’

The slip was an embarrassment both to President Obama, who will be concerned his appointee was left out of the loop, as well as Mr Clapper – whose effectiveness as the central figure in charge of America’s myriad intelligence agencies is increasingly being questioned.

The job, created after the 9/11 attacks, is widely seen as failing to live up to its billing as a way of channeling information from the different agencies.

Today, Mr John Brennan admitted that Mr Clapper should have been kept abreast of the UK arrests.

The video is floating out there somewhere. In it Janet Napolitano states that DHS, Clapper, Brennan, et al, are working 24/7/”364″ to protect the American people. Are there three less competent people in charge of national security in the U.S.?

  1. I expect no less from the obama admin or others in our Government. Remember what obama said, it’s a man made disaster. Guess there’s no such thing as a terrorist, yea right! Government needs to pull their heads out of their asses before it’s too late.

  2. If it were the UK which “Mistakenly” left Clapper out,
Is there any wonder why? We don’t handle our national secrets with any secrecy and a PFC can and did steal everything and sell it to Wikileaks. If I were in the UK government, I wouldn’t trust us either. In fact, I’m an American and I don’t trust one member of Hussein Obama’s administration to take any action to safeguard the country. Quite the contrary, IMO, everything they’ve done so far has been to destroy our economic system and to surrender to Sharia and the Muslims. Because Obama is one of them. Apparently the UK knows this as well.

  3. Our–not my pres. Hear no evil/see no evil/let em do evil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  4. James “Clueless” Clapper is just one more example of what the Obama administration is all about and their inept regime is clueless throughout every aspect of national defense of this country.

  5. Has/Does this guy rad papers;watch the news?

  6. Clearly the UK doesn’t trust the Obama administration, and the other US intelligence agencies regard Obama appointees in homeland security issues as irrelevant.

  7. Oooooobummer wants Europe to take the lead anyway, he doesn’t need to worry about this to much. He is use to being 3rd world. Past the goatshead will ya. Thanks!

  11. [...] That is the Muslim Brotherhood’s motto. Clapper’s incompetence was last on display when the White House admitted he was clueless on a large UK terror bust [...]

  12. They say he wasn’t kept abreast, yet in an early paragraph it says, “The British arrests to foil an alleged al Qaeda terror plot got wide coverage on TV news shows and newspapers. But the spy chief appeared stumped when asked whether there were any US links.” Anybody that can read a newspaper or watch TV can easily be kept abreast

Can Brennan read or have his handlers learn to read newspapers or watch TV? Totally incompetent.
