Did Christie approve the firing?
via NJ’s Chris Christie knew of transit worker’s Quran-burn firing – trentonian.com.
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Gov. Chris Christie and several of his top aides are on a list of those with direct information on the termination of a transit worker who publicly burned pages from the Quran on Sept. 11, it was disclosed Wednesday in a court proceeding.
Fired transit worker Derek Fenton wasn’t present for Wednesday’s scheduling conference in a Newark federal courtroom. A lawsuit filed on his behalf by the American Civil Liberties Union claims his firing violated his constitutional right to free expression.
Lawyers from the state attorney general’s office are representing Fenton’s former employer, the New Jersey Transit agency.
In a discussion of what documents would be made available as part of the suit, the AG’s office provided a list of employees in the governor’s office with information concerning the decision to discharge Fenton. Besides Christie, the list included his director of communications, his chief of staff and his chief counsel, among others.
Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak said he had no comment.
Deborah Jacobs, executive director of the ACLU in New Jersey, said she was surprised the Republican governor seemed to have direct involvement in a personnel matter.
“In this economy, you would think that New Jersey had better things to do with taxpayer dollars than defend this wrongheaded termination and violation of free speech,” she said. “Governor Christie, of all people, should know that.”
The attorneys handling the case on behalf of the ACLU, Rubin Sinins and Frank Corrado, were informed by attorney general’s office lawyers Alvin Ricardo Little and Kenneth Worton that 5,000 e-mails pertaining to Fenton’s termination were being reviewed to determine which of them would be considered executive privilege or attorney-client privilege or would be otherwise redacted.
A Republican in name only with deep ties to the Islamist Muslim community now pitted against the ACLU over a Koran burning. Pinch yourself.

They should have HELPED this man in BURNING THE WHOLE BOOK OF THE DEVIL instead of FIRING HIM. They had no right firing him for off duty activities. Now it looks like Cristi is in bed with the DEVIL DIPER HEAD’S.
If this story is true and Chris Christie knew and approved this firing of the worker, we as members of the Tea Party will place Christie on the page of NON-Electable government people and will advance the agenda as stated.
I second it.If true the hell with him.
Looking at the story, however, it looks as though Christie was informed of the firing after it happened.
where does it say that?
Why is it justified as free speech when icons of Christianity are defiled. No one is fired in those cases. One may not agree with the individuals’ actions, but one has to stand up for his right to free expression in this case.
If he knew about the firing then he should be relieved of office for agreeing that one of their employees was not entitled to free speech. No one needs a governor who doesn’t believe in free speech.
I can top this one. On 1/11/11 Christie nominates a Muslim lawyer (Sohail Mohammed) who defended the Fort Dix 6 to become a judge on NJ bench. Christie is another slick talker and muslim appeaser. Read about it at The Right Perspective.
What is wrong with him?
Is he on the side of ISLAM?
Did anyone ask him about his position on Islam?
Maybe the TEA Party in NJ needs a rude awakening?
Maybe they need to get the political correct cob webs out of their heads?

I also meant to add that less than three months after US President Barack Obama visited Indonesia and praised its “spirit of religious tolerance” as an “example to the world”.we can see how islam treats those it regards as infidels

Reading this case. Free speech though may not be relevant; he was a supervisor of safety procedures. Fenton knew or should have known that his actions would pose a danger to other persons. That should render the First Amendment claim irrelevant and sink Fenton’s lawsuit.
In other words, it could go either way.
It may also come down to how “at will” his employment is in a non-right-to-work state. I personally would not have fired Fenton hough.
