There are numerous problems with this “rationale”, but let’s just focus on one right now.

Notice the cleric contradicts himself .

He says, that first “He (the husband) should refuse to share his bed with her.” But then later imam says “in fact that the punishment of beating is permissible in once case only: when she refuses to sleep with him.

How does it make sense that he punishes her by refusing to share his bed with her, because she refuses to sleep with him?
