72% Put Freedom of Speech Ahead of Not Offending Other Cultures – Rasmussen Reports™.
Voters overwhelmingly rate protecting freedom of speech as more important than not offending other nations and cultures despite claims that the latest outbreak of anti-American violence in the Middle East is due to an amateur YouTube video that mocks Islam.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 72% of Likely U.S. Voters believe it is more important for the United States to guarantee freedom of speech. Only 15% consider it more important for the United States to make sure that nothing is done to offend other nations and cultures. Thirteen percent (13%) are undecided. 51% See Federal Government As Threat to Their Rights
Just over half (51%) of Americans continue to believe that the government is more of a threat to individual rights than a protector of them.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that only 34% of Adults in this country regard the federal government more as a protector of individual rights. Fifteen percent (15%) are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
The survey of 1,000 Adults was conducted on May 29-30, 2012 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
Immigration, “refugee resettlement”, and government dependency will continue to negatively alter these numbers. We are at a tipping point.

This should be 100% for Free Speech. The Constitution that the United States of America was founded on has Freedom of Speech as its first amendment, enacted December 15, 1791. If you do not support The Constitution of The United States, maybe you should consider going to another country more toward you likings.
The Federal Government being a threat should be higher as well. I have never been worried about the Federal government until recently when I see all of the things they are doing against The Citizens Of The United States.

Yes, I agree it should, but actually I’m surprised that’s it is at 72%, from the liberals in this country I thought the percentage would have been lower.
Yes it should be 100%, it’s quite shocking -even the PC crowd should know their protests & hate speech (like putting Sarah Palin in a noose and calling Black conservs house N****as, calling to kill Bush and Chney) is also protected by that same right-

The only ones who don’t want free speech are the ones who don’t want it for anyone who disagrees with them. You better believe they want that right. And many of them are islam’s useful idiots who think islam is the only ideology that should not be criticized. And when they are caught in the webs that they want instilled – they will wail and whine big time and act like they are victims.
I don’t know any left wing group (including moslems in that group) that don’t freely use free speech. They are just ignorant, stupid, dumb, etc. enough to think it won’t backfire on them.

There is a difference between freedom of speech and propagandizing for the purpose of causing people to want to harm Christians, Jews and their property. The Socialists in the Democratic Party are violating the law, and hiding it with inappropriate arguments over freedom of speech, by purposefully propagandizing to cause Americans to want to harm Christians and Jews and their property. Secular Americans didn’t arrived at their hate towards Christians and Jews through their own experiences they were propagandized with lies through the public schools, colleges and Socialist media outlets.
