Every time we think we are done writing about Barack Obama and his questionable supporters and friends, someone else with questionable views emerges.
Introducing the Zogby family – James, John, and Joseph.
James (Jim) Zogby is founder of the Arab American Institute and also writes for Huffington Post. He recently penned an op-ed in the Florida Times Union entitled Israel Must Treat Americans Fairly, critical of Israel’s treatment of Arab Americans traveling through Israel. In response, the Times Union published Israel Must be Treated Fairly which shed some light on Zogby:
Before founding the Arab American Institute, Zogby created the Palestine Human Rights Commission as the propaganda arm of the Palestine Liberation Organization, a terrorist group responsible for murdering thousands, including 11 Israeli athletes, at the 1972 Munich Olympics.
The PLO was created in 1964 with the goal of “destroying the Jewish presence in Palestine.”
Like CAIR, Zogby’s Arab American Institute bills itself as an Arab American civil rights organization that spends a great deal of its time squelching criticism of Arab and Islamic terrorism, and inhibiting our government’s efforts to prevent another attack like Sept. 11, 2001.
Zogby’s Arab American Institute web page confirms he was a “co-founder and chairman of the Palestine Human Rights Campaign in the late 1970s” and “co-founded Save Lebanon, Inc., a private non-profit, humanitarian and non-sectarian relief organization which funds health care for Palestinian and Lebanese victims of war.”
Unless all the ‘victims’ assisted were innocent non-combatants, it’s safe to presume some of that health care funding went to terrorists and combatants as well. Zogby’s rationalization of Hamas and Hizbollah should also raise eyebrows.
…In the mid-1990s, Zogby stated that it was important to view Hamas terrorism against Israelis as an understandable part of “a cycle” of violence. He stressed the importance of trying “to understand why the [Hamas] perpetrators acted as they did or why there are people whose anger and despair bring them to support this or that crime.” Also in that decade, Zogby extolled the Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon, referring to them as “the Lebanese armed resistance”…source
Enter Barack Hussein Obama.
Zogby’s Arab American Institute election web page (screen shot included in case it disappears) includes the transcript of a 2007 address to AAI by Barack Obama, who begins by stating:
“Hello, everyone. Let me begin by congratulating your president and my good friend, Jim Zogby, for his work in putting together this conference. It’s an honor to have his support.”
Interesting choice of words from Obama for a man who supports Hamas and Hizbollah, potentially funded Palestinian terrorists, founded the propaganda wing of the PLO, and called on Arab nations to reinvigorate a boycott of Israel, among other questionable activities.
In “Stopping the Saudis“, Alex Alexiev reported this about Zogby’s organization:
“…according to the Arab News (a Saudi government-controlled newspaper), the World Assembly of Muslim Youth — which was incorporated in the U.S. by Osama bin Laden’s brother Abdullah bin Laden — announced last June that it will “take up the cases” of 13,000 Muslim illegal aliens slated for deportation, together with the Arab American Institute, an American non-profit organization (and the recipient of $300,000 from Saudi prince Alwaleed ibn Talal...”
Even some Shia Muslims in the U.S. reject Zogby’s relationship with WAMY and it appears they’ve been outlawed in the U.S. Yet apparently this is not enough for Obama to denounce his “good friend” Zogby and AAI’s support. Discover the Networks details more disturbing information on Zogby that can only bring Obama’s judgment further into question.
James Zogby is the brother of John Zogby, President and Chief Executive Officer of Zogby International. Brother Jim is also a senior analyst for the company widely recognized for its Zogby Polls. Did you catch that? The founder of pro-Palestinian organizations is a senior analyst at a leading polling organization in the U.S. Could any of James anti-American, pro-Arab bias be reflected in his poll results?
The My DD blog asks: Is there a Zogby-Obama connection?
I wouldn’t be so shocked about the newly released Zogby poll finding Hillary Clinton behind John McCain by 10 points, if James Zogby (brother of Zogby’s CEO John Zogby, and senior analyst of said company) had not become a pro-Obama op-ed columnist for a day in the pro-Obama Huffington Post, and called for Hillary Clinton to drop out of the race.
Do you see a connection here?
Similarly weird is the fact that an AP-Ipsos had been dominating the headlines today with poll with a totally opposite outcome: Hillary up by 9%.
Am I the only one who thinks the timing of this poll is very strange, as if it had come as a damage-control response to the AP poll, carrying the message, “not so fast, Clinton is not the most electable candidate after all!
How ethical is it for a senior analyst in a poll to ask for a race to be over?
Clearly there is a Zogby connection. Not only does James Zogby’s Arab American Institute support Obama’s campaign, both James and John Joseph Zogby have contributed to Obama’s campaign (indivs-search). James Zogby even wrote an article just days ago entitled, “Hillary can’t win Democratic nomination.” How ethical is it to contribute to a campaign monetarily but also to sway the opinions of millions of voters in favor of the candidate you openly support? Who happens to also be of Arab heritage.
“…half (49.3%) of New York City residents and 41% of New York citizens overall say that some of our leaders “knew in advance that attacks were planned on or around September 11, 2001, and that they consciously failed to act,” according to the poll conducted by Zogby International…”
In 2004, Pollipundit conducted a review of polling procedures and concluded this about Zogby:
In other words, Zogby uses his own polls to drive some of his demographic parameters, a practice not approved, much less recommended, by either the NCPP or the AAPOR.
All in all, Zogby’s habit of confusing his personal opinion with data-driven conclusions, his admitted practice of manipulating the respondent pool and his demographic weights, by standards not accepted anywhere else, along with mixing Internet polls with telephone interview results, forces me to reject his polls as unacceptable; they simply cannot be verified, and I strongly warn the reader that there is no established benchmark for the Zogby reports, even using previous Zogby polls, because he has changed his practices from his own history.
Militant Islam Monitor uncovers more criticism of the Zogby brothers and their tactics.
James Zogby’s son is Joseph Zogby, also an Obama contributor, and Special Counsel on the Post-9/11 Discriminatory Backlash at the Justice Department. Could there be any coincidence that Zogby’s AAI complained about a rise in bias attacks against Arabs and Muslims after 9-11 and his son being appointed to the a special counsel to address the situation? Deb Schlussel writes about her experience with the counsel and why a death threat against her by a Muslim was not pursued as quickly as threats against Muslims:
I learned that, after 9/11, the Justice Department established a special section of its civil rights office concentrating a lot of manpower only on hate crimes against Muslims, Arabs, and Asians. They get a separate, more swift version of justice than the rest of us. There is even a Justice Department “Special Counsel on the Post-9/11 Discriminatory Backlash”–Joseph Zogby. If his name sounds familiar, that’s because his father is James Zogby, head the Arab American Institute, which openly supports HAMAS and Hezbollah.
Joe Zogby was hired as an aide by Martin Indyk, the U.S. assistant secretary of state for Near Eastern affairs under Bill Clinton. Prior to being hired, Zogby had written several articles critical of Israel, and as JTA reported in 1999:
…[Zogby] accused Israel of abusing human rights and acting like a colonizer, similar to the “genocidal treatment of the Native Americans and enslavement of African-Americans”…Indyk defended him for writing “in anguish, not in anger”…”He was not then and is not now an Israel-hater,” said Indyk, who, having anticipated questions on the subject at his ADL appearance, read from a lengthy prepared statement…
Despite such ‘anguished’ comments, he is now Democratic Chief Counsel, U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary Subcommittee on Human Rights and the Law. He recently spoke at a Georgetown web conference on the future of human rights. You can listen to Zogby’s session here. While his speech is not favorable of the U.S., it’s almost tame compared to the America bashing that precedes his comments. The tone seems to mimic that of the UN Human Rights Council.
How many more “good friends” like James Zogby, does Barack Obama have? Is Obama aware of the Zogby legacy? The Wahabi and Saudi support? The Palestinian fund raising? The anti-America, anti-Israel, pro-Hamas, pro-Hizbollah, and terrorist sympathies? Is Obama also good friends with the other Zogby’s?
Jeremiah Wright gave Obama a gift with his maniacal rant days ago making it all too easy for Obama to now “disown” his pastor (CNN won’t even ask Obama about Wright any more). Will Obama be asked to disown his Arab friend Zogby or is the MSM failure to report this just another gift on the road to the nomination?
Atlas Shrugs uncovered the Zogby bias several years ago
Just as Obama and Newsweek’s Zacaria want to transform America into some 3rd world mess (and are doing a fine job at it), so does Obama friend and poll trixter, John Zogby as detailed in his latest book: The Way We’ll Be – The Zogby Report on the Transformation of the American Dream by John Zogby
