Infiltrating the U.S. Congress – priceless.
Remember, Ellison’s spokesman originally lied about who funded the trip stating Ellison paid for it himself. The group who actually did pay for also denied their role as rumor and urban legend, admitting that doing so would be a breach of congressional ethics.

WASHINGTON – After a months-long review by a U.S. House ethics panel, Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., has disclosed the amount of his privately-paid trip to Mecca in December.
The trip, paid for by the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, cost $13,350, Ellison said Thursday.
The two-week trip to Saudi Arabia, which Ellison described as a personal religious pilgrimage, or Hajj, prompted little discussion until June when Ellison filed financial travel reports that failed to disclose the amount the Muslim group had paid for his travel.
In releasing the amount on Thursday, Ellison held to his previous assertion that he was following the instructions of the House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, commonly known as the ethics committee.
“I never had a moral objection to giving the number out,” said Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress. “But the rules said I didn’t have to, so I didn’t. Now I am.”
“After the ethics committee forced him to reveal personal travel expenses of $13,350, Keith Ellison still has some explaining to do,” said Tony Sutton, chairman of the Minnesota Republican Party. “Since there are rules against nonprofit religious groups furthering the ‘private interests’ of individuals, Ellison needs to explain how this private trip was reported to the IRS.”
Another question Ellison should answer is one we asked in August, How did Ellison’s daughter get into a school, of mostly low-income Muslim immigrants, with a wait list of 1,500?
Tax records show the group that paid Ellison’s expenses, the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, received nearly $900,000 in taxpayer money in 2006 and 2007 from a rental arrangement for Tarek ibn Ziyad Academy (TiZA), an Inver Grove Heights charter school.
The man who accompanied Ellison to Mecca, Asad Zaman, is executive director of the TiZA school, a political contributor of Ellison’s and was president of the Muslim American Society until August, when the Mecca trip was planned.
Citizens might also like to know who paid for Ellison’s Presidents Day trip to the College of Sharia in Qatar, exactly what was he doing there, what he learned, and who he met with. And why did he choose Presidents Day to go there?
The Muslim American Society (MAS) – a “front group for the Muslim Brotherhood” – paid for Democrat Keith Ellison’s Islamic trek to Mecca, but that’s not the entire story. MAS’ president, Asad Zaman, escorted Ellison to Mecca.
Zaman is also an executive director at TiZA, the taxpayer financed Islamic charter school (TiZA) currently being sued by the ACLU of Minnesota for teaching Islam.
Both MAS and TiZA receive taxypayer money. The Brotherhood-connected MAS received nearly $1 million in taxpayer dollars over a two-year period, while TiZA has received, and continues to receive, much more.
Could that be why the first Muslim elected to Congress has “kept the trip’s cost under wraps”? Or why Ellison’s office gave conflicting reports about who paid for his trip?
If all of that weren’t troubling enough for the first Muslim congressman and former Nation of Islam radical, the message Ellison received on his pilgrimage should be – and someone in the national media, if not Congress, should ask him about it:
…the defeat of warmongers in America in the political and economic arenas and Muslim minorities’ regaining their true identity and dignity in most of the Western countries. These are all clear indications of the triumph and advancements of Islam in its struggle against its enemies in this century that is the 15th century of Lunar Hegira.
Brothers and sisters! These victories are all the fruits of jihad and sincerity…The wounded enemy is now resorting to anything and will spare no effort to strike back. We need to be resourceful, wise and to take advantage of opportunities. This way all the efforts of the enemy will fail. In the last thirty years, the enemies, mostly the US and Zionism, have been utilizing all their capacities but have failed miserably. The same thing will happen in the future, too, inshallah.
Don’t hold your breath waiting for any of these questions to be asked.
