ACLU, led by Obama Ramadan guest, sues gov’t over drones

Yesterday, we posted on the ACLU’s attempt to further submit the FBI in the fight against Islamic terrorists by demanding details on investigations of Muslim terror suspects. Today, they are doing the same to the CIA and its drone program. via ACLU sues gov’t over drones – Jen DiMascio –

The American Civil Liberties Union sued the federal government Tuesday to learn the use of unmanned drones for targeted killings by the military and CIA.

“In particular, the lawsuit asks for information on when, where and against whom drone strikes can be authorized, the number and rate of civilian casualties and other basic information essential for assessing the wisdom and legality of using armed drones to conduct targeted killings,” the ACLU said in a statement, announcing its action.

The nonprofit civil liberties group filed initial Freedom of Information Act requests with the Defense, Justice and State departments and with the Central Intelligence Agency on Jan. 13. Only the CIA responded, and the ACLU is pursuing that request with an appeal to the agency.

A New American Foundation study, cited in Jane Mayer’s October 2009 New Yorker piece that drew attention to the CIA’s use of killer drones, found the number of attacks has continued to grow under the Obama administration – from 34 in 2008 to 43 by October of 2009.

“The government’s use of drones to conduct targeted killings raises complicated questions – not only legal questions, but policy and moral questions as well,” said Jameel Jaffer, director of the ACLU National Security Project.

Who is Jameel Jaffer? The American Spectator wrote about him in late 2009, Obama’s Special Ramadan Guest:

The White House invited an ACLU attorney, who has built a career over the past six years of litigating against the United States in support of terrorists, to an official White House dinner last night to celebrate Ramadan with President Obama.

Jameel Jaffer, who runs the ACLU’s “national security project,” has filed lawsuits challenging the FBI’s “national security letter” authority, the constitutionality of warrantless wiretaps, and has been a leader in pushing for the shut down of Guantánamo Bay, and providing legal rights to terrorists held by the United States overseas in such countries as Iraq and Afghanistan. His efforts enabled the leaking of “torture photos” out of Iraq and Afghanistan, and some sources inside the Central Intelligence Agency believe he was one of the lawyers who provided legal advice to the Department of Justice to pursue an investigation into enhanced interrogation techniques used by the CIA.

Jaffer, a Canadian citizen, was vetted for the dinner by White House staff. His invitation was approved by the White House Counsel’s Office, as well as the Office of Political Affairs.

Jaffer also was a lead attorney attempting to have the 2004 visa ban lifted for Tariq Ramadan, who is often identified as a “Swiss Islamic academic.”

The Obama administration sided with Jaffer and lifted the visa ban on Tariq Ramadan, grandson of the outlawed Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood’s founder. Ramadan promptly began working with Muslim Brotherhood-linked CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), as both CAIR and Jaffer celebrated his visa victory.

Jameel Jaffer also happens to be a CAIR partner and was the keynote speaker for CAIR-Michigan’s 2009 fundraiser. Jaffer’s association with CAIR – a Muslim group boasting a roster of convicted and deported officials, and DOJ confirmed status as an unindicted co-conspirator in the trial of convicted Islamic terrorist funders – is telling.

The other group mentioned by Politico, New American Foundation, is led by Google CEO and Chairman Eric Schmidt and despite it’s patriotic-sounding name also has questionable leanings. A key member of its staff, Amjad Atallah, was an advisor to the ‘Palestinians’, who are led by in part by the Muslim Brotherhood’s armed ‘Palestinian’ wing Hamas, as well as Fatah.

Mr. Atallah advised the Palestinian negotiating team in peace negotiations with Israel on the issues of international borders, security, and constitutional issues. He was also responsible for liaising with U.S. government officials in Washington, D.C. on these issues.

There is an enemy afoot in the U.S. and the new America they are attempting to bring about does not bode well for most Americans. In many cases, they are linked to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose strategic goal in North America was detailed in documents uncovered by the FBI, which state unequivocally:

…that their work in America is a kind of grand Jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within and “sabotaging” its miserable house by their hands and the hands of the believers so that it is eliminated and God’s religion is made victorious over all other religions. Without this level of understanding, we are not up to this challenge and have not prepared ourselves for Jihad yet. It is a Muslim’s destiny to perform Jihad and work wherever he is and wherever he lands until the final hour comes, and there is no escape from that destiny except for those who chose to slack. But, would the slackers and the Mujahedeen be equal.

  1. what is wrong with this picture? WELL for one- the ACLU the A stands for AMERICAN CIVIL liberties- not PAKISTAN citizens safety or “rights” in USA they have no rights, neither do GITMO suspects- – ACLU has not one thing to say about our gov’t MILITARY and STRATEGIC decisions- it simply is NOT their mission or mandate., which is to protect AMERICAN citizen’s CIVIL RIGHTS- RE: TERROR from PAKISTAN – it is OUR civil right as Americans to FIGHT it any way our generals and CIC choose to- it has nought to do with “rights” or “liberties” what a bullshit case- this is not the purpose of ACLU.
If these men wish to prosecute the president for doing his JOB – ie protecting USA citizens they are guilty of TREASON and should be on charges themselves

  2. When are we going to get rid of the ACLU! They are an anti-American group, and now I would say they are a threat to our National Security.

If sharia law continues spreading, you'll have less and less freedom of speech - so speak while you can!
