via WorldNetDaily, Muslim GOP activist asks mom to quit CAIR.
A Republican activist outed last month as a radical Muslim Brotherhood supporter now says he will ask his mother to step down from a top post she holds at a Muslim Brotherhood front group.
Suhail A. Khan, whose late father helped found the secret Muslim Brotherhood movement inside the U.S., has come under attack from former national security officials after videos surfaced showing him praising Islamic suicide attacks and accepting an award from a top Muslim Brotherhood leader now behind bars for plotting terrorism and raising money for al-Qaida.
“The early Muslims loved death, dying for the sake of almighty Allah, more than the oppressors of Muslims loved life. This must be the case when we are fighting,” Khan said in a 1999 speech to fellow Muslims. “What are our oppressors going to do with people like us? We’re prepared to give our lives for the cause of Islam.”
Khan, an American Conservative Union board member, has had to explain his statements to fellow board members.
In an interview earlier this week with radio talk-show host Sean Hannity, Khan denied any formal association with the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which prosecutors have linked to Hamas and its parent the Muslim Brotherhood. Asked if his mother works for CAIR, Khan acknowledged she sits on the board of its San Francisco Bay Area chapter.
“I have encouraged her to get off the board,” Khan said.
His mother, Malika Khan, serves on the executive committee of CAIR-SFBA, which came under fire last month when it posted a flyer on its website urging Muslims not to cooperate with the FBI in terrorism investigations.
The poster, which CAIR’s national office had removed following a nationwide outcry, advised Muslims “Don’t talk to the FBI” and “Build a wall of resistance” against terror probes in the Muslim community.
The FBI severed ties with CAIR National and all 30 of its chapters in 2008 after the U.S. Justice Department named the Washington-based group as an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal scheme led by the Holy Land Foundation to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas suicide bombers and their families.
“Until we can resolve whether there continues to be a connection between CAIR or its executives and Hamas, the FBI does not view CAIR as an appropriate liaison partner,” said assistant FBI Director Richard Powers in a 2009 letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee. “The FBI has suspended all formal outreach activities with CAIR.”
Khan did not indicate if he has also urged his mother to completely sever ties with CAIR, which has seen several senior executives convicted of terrorism or terrorism-related charges since 9/11. But he said he now has “a problem” with the group and its “association with extremists.”
Khan said he himself has never been a member of CAIR. However, he has attended several CAIR events and has maintained close contacts with CAIR leaders.
In March 2008, for example, Khan led a private CAIR “Leadership and Empowerment Conference” workshop with Jihad Saleh Williams of the Congressional Muslim Staff Association on how to “jump-start” a career on Capitol Hill, according to the book, “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America,” which exposes the Muslim Brotherhood and its American front groups.
The book also reveals that Khan’s name appears in a directory of Washington contacts kept by top CAIR officials at their Washington headquarters. His name and contact information are listed first among several contacts under the heading, “VIP.”
