Dry run? Three arrested in bomb hoax at Phoenix airport

Earlier this week we posted on a UN report about Eritreans in the Oakland, California area funding Islamic terror group al Shabaab. Was this a dry run attempt? via 3 arrested in bomb hoax at Phoenix Sky Harbor.

Three African refugees have been arrested after a recent Phoenix airport security check uncovered what appeared to be an explosive device, police said Tuesday.

A U.S. Transportation Security Administration employee discovered a cellphone attached to a container holding an organic material while performing a security check on carry-on bags at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Friday, according to Sgt. Steve Martos, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.

Police have not yet determined what the organic material is. Authorities said the Police Department’s bomb squad and the Fire Department’s hazardous-materials crew determined the device was not an explosive.

Officials said the owner of the device, Luwiza Daman, 51, told investigators that an acquaintance had given her the device and asked her to deliver it to an unknown person in Des Moines, Iowa.

Later Friday evening, investigators found a second person they believe was involved in the incident, Shullu Gorado, 25, who was at his home near 19th Avenue and Camelback Road, Martos said.

Investigators said Gorado told them he gave the device to Daman after a third person, Shani Asa, 34, gave it to him.

Investigators found Asa on Monday afternoon at his home near 43rd Avenue and Osborn Road, Martos said.

Asa said he attached the cellphone to the container housing the organic material and gave the device to Gorado, Martos said.

All three individuals were arrested on suspicion of having a hoax device and conspiracy to obtain a hoax device.

Police said no incidents such as this had occurred before at Sky Harbor.

  2. Better not say anything to them. Someone here in MN just got arrested for speaking to one. He inquired if it knew it had bad odor from the burkha, and got charged with a hate crime.

The same reason no one at ft hood could say anything.

The politically correct are like the gestapo.

    • to dan; noo, freedom of speech. you have a duty to tell someone they smell bad.

i know of no physical way to electronically connect a phone to a bag of plant matter. and i’m pretty smart with a 144IQ

If sharia law continues spreading, you'll have less and less freedom of speech - so speak while you can!
