The world has come to expect politicians to bow down and kiss the asses of Muslims whose religion terrorizes the world. But French cartoonists who just had ten of their colleagues slaughtered by Muslims?
Sadly, Chamberlainism is now pandemic. via French caricaturists target Pegida marchers – The Local.
French cartoonists distributed a flyer in Dresden on Sunday criticizing anti-Islam demonstrators’ use of the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris to try and boost their support.
“We refuse to let Pegida profit from the memory of our colleagues”, a spokesman for the cartoonists told DPA.
But the French illustrators – including one Charlie Hebdo employee, Dutch cartoonist Willem, who survived the attacks because he was out of the office – say that Pegida stands for everything their colleagues hated.
“We, the French and francophone illustrators, are appalled by the murder of our friends.
“And we’re disgusted that far-right forces are trying to instrumentalize their deaths for their own purposes,” they wrote.
One caricature shows a hyena, a jackal and a vulture sniffing at blood seeping out from the door of the Charlie Hebdo office.
The cartoonists say that “in this struggle, Dresden is a symbolic city just like Paris” – and call on Dresdeners to reconsider their views about Muslims.
Why should they? Why ignore reality? Apparently nothing will wake up liberals, even those who once mocked Mohammed. Where were the cartoons about CAIR and Fatah hijacking Charlie Hebdo events?
While an estimated 35,000 people demonstrated in Dresden against Pegida on Saturday, the anti-Islam group is hoping to beat its record attendance at the euphemistically-named “evening strolls” of 18,000 last Monday.
And an attack on the Hamburger Morgenpost newspaper on Saturday, which had reprinted some Charlie Hebdo cartoons following the Paris massacre, is likely to ensure that feelings are running high at the march – and possibly draw more participants.
Political leaders from left and right called on Pegida to cancel its Monday night demonstration.
“If the organizers had a shred of decency they would simply cancel these demonstrations”, Justice Minister Heiko Maas of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) told Bild.
Christian Social Union (CSU) leader Horst Seehofer agreed, telling ARD television that “when the whole world is mourning and in shock over the events in Paris”, Pegida leaders should “for the time being” cancel their rallies.

Dresden (Germany) (AFP) – A record 25,000 people joined an anti-Islamic march in Germany on Monday, claiming their stance was vindicated by last week’s Paris jihadist attacks.
However, the impressive turnout was dwarfed by 100,000 counter-demonstrators calling for tolerance nationwide.
Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier stressed that “Islam belongs to Germany” and announced she would on Tuesday join a Muslim community rally in Berlin against extremism, along with most of her cabinet ministers.
The new Charlie Hebdo cover was announced too, although we don’t quite get it. All is forgiven?
…cartoonist Renald Luzier, known as Luz, displayed the edition’s cover, which shows a frowning Prophet Muhammad holding a sign that says, “Je suis Charlie” — “I am Charlie” — under the headline, “All is forgiven.”
Luzier described how he came up with the drawing following last week’s attack, blamed on two Islamist brothers later slain by police. Eight staff members were among the dozen people killed in the assault.
“I said to myself, we must do a drawing that above all makes us laugh, and not one on the emotional charge we are victims of,” he said.
He drew Muhammad crying, he said, and then cried himself.
“This was not the front page the world wanted us to draw, it was our front page. This is not the front page that the terrorists want us to draw — there are no terrorists in it, just a man who cries,” he said.
“This Muhammad is so much nicer than the ones the terrorists brandish,” Biard said, holding the cover aloft. “He’s sympathetic. Look at him, he’s crying!”
Sometimes silence is better than ignorance or outright lies.
