Florida: Muslim Tries to Get @UCF to Expel Student Who Refused to Try On Hijab

A Twitter fight between two University of Central Florida students went viral after Rayyan Sukkarieh called for the expulsion of Kathy Zhu.

The controversy began Thursday afternoon, after Zhu tweeted photographs of Muslim students holding an event where they were encouraging students to try on a hijab and giving out free head coverings.

“I passed this booth that had a big banner that said try on a Hijab,” Zhu said. “So, I thought that was kind of weird so I posted it online and I talked about my beliefs.”

In her tweet, Zhu wrote, “There’s a ‘try a hijab on’ booth at my college campus. So, you’re telling me that it’s now just a fashion accessory and not a religious thing? Or are you just trying to get women used to being oppressed under Islam.”

Following Zhu’s initial tweet, one of the girls who organized the “Try on a hijab event,” Rayyan Sukkarieh, turned to Twitter to blast Zhu’s comments about Islam and Hijabs.

“I’m in the back of the first pic (w/o my consent lol) and I invited you to try one on and you said no thank you,” Sukkarieh wrote. “You didn’t take the time to even ask question or try to understand what Hijab is. That’s ignorant on you. You literally sprinted after taking the photos. Pathetic.

Sukkarieh then sent out a follow up tweet calling for Zhu to be expelled because of her comments and opinions about the event.

“TWITTER DO YOUR THING,” Sukkarieh wrote. “Let’s get this girl expelled. Email st_conduct@ucf.edu ( UCF OFFICE OF STUDENT CONDUCT) and send them Kathy’s tweet, including the photos in her thread. Ignorance will not be tolerated on my campus.”

Zhu told Knight News, while she does not believe it was Sukkarieh’s intent to set up an inappropriate event, she still feels that Sukkarieh’s reaction to the whole controversy was over the top.

“Of course (their intent) was nothing explicitly bad. But I do believe this is a way to get people to normalize Islam,” Zhu said. “That’s fine, they can do whatever they want. But they shouldn’t try to expel someone for disagreeing with their views.”

Sukkarieh tweets, set social media on fire with some people supporting her and others condemning her for her anti-first amendment tweet.

“Chilling,” journalist Andy C. Ngo tweeted. “Student at @UCF is mobilizing Twitter mobs to try and get a peer expelled because she was offended by tweet (other student expressed opinion against religious modesty headscarf). Sad that a great tool for communication is abused as a tool for bullying.”

Since the incident, UCF issued the following statement to Knight News:

“The University of Central Florida has received a number of emailed complaints suggesting that disciplinary action be taken against students involved in a disagreement being played out via social media,” said Assistant Director of UCF Communications, Mark Schlueb. “Upon review, neither student’s actions as reported to the university violate our Rules of Conduct.”

Zhu told Knight News she was glad to hear UCF’s decision not to pursue a case against her, and explained her thoughts on this whole situation.

“I think it’s kind of ridiculous how people are trying to censor others for disagreeing with them, and then trying to get them kicked out. That’s the definition of fascism,” Zhu said.

Knight News reached out to Sukkarieh for comment on the situation, however she declined to speak. Since her initial tweet, Sukkarieh has changed her Twitter username and set her account to private.

She actually deleted the entire account and as Twitchy notes, resurfaced under another name but still trying to enforce the sharia. She changed her profile image from hijabi…

…to, well, less than hijabi.

As Twitchy reported Thursday, a University of Central Florida student named Kathy Zhu (@PoliticalKathy) was the target of a campaign to have her expelled after she refused to try on a hijab for #NationalHijabDay.

Rayyan Sukkarieh (@anotherarabb), who helped organize the “try on a hijab” event on campus, called for Twitter to “do its thing” and “get this girl expelled.” After the story blew up, Sukkarieh locked down her Twitter account and moved to another handle — but now she’s back, and her tweets lobbying for an expulsion are back up.

For those who are interested, Sukkarieh posted a lengthy thread on the hijab to counter Zhu’s assertion that it’s “oppressive.”

It’s voluntary, like everything under Islamic sharia…until you refuse. Then it becomes mandatory.

More uncovered on the sharia supremacist:

Rayyan is also a Secretary for the Muslim student association on campus

Is she a member of Antifa? http://www.keywiki.org/Knights_for_Socialism

Rayyan Sukkarieh has shown interest in “Knights of Socialism” that appears to be ANTIFA linked. Not known if this is the same person but highly likely (both events occurred on UCF campus). Appears to spell last name two different ways. https://msaknights.com/theboard/ http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/os-pictures-vernona-islamic-fashion-store-in-windemere-20160512-photogallery.html https://www.facebook.com/MSAKnights http://global.ucf.edu/hijab-as-a-way-of-life/

UCF has its own Hijabi fashion blogger too! Rayyan Sukkarieh is a Health Science major and the face of Verona Clothing based in Orlando. She has been in the industry for about 3 years and has cultivated a huge following (just look at her Instagram page @anotherarabgurl1!)…Rayyan is also a Secretary for the Muslim student association on campus MSA Knights.

  1. Am I reading that correctly the muslim girl closed her twitter account and created a new account with a new name?
I suppose soon accusations will start surfacing that she was getting death threats although she will not be able to provide any evidence like a screen shot.

  2. Ahh. Yes the face that only a camel can love explains why she favors putting a mobile funeral shroud over her puss. What a pathetic ignorant piece of Pedophile followers….

  3. To the directors of the UCF: As a taxpayer supporting the University I am appalled that you permit muslim activities such as “Try on a Hajib”. In fact it should be forbidden to wear such garments that tell all non-muslim, KUFFARS that they will be subject to sharia. Are you not familiar with the islamic concepts of Taqiyya , Kitman and the other many forms of deceit inherent in islam. I would ask that Sukkarieh be censored for her actions. Look at IRAN today:http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5347779/Iran-anti-hijab-protests-continue-despite-earlier-arrests.html

  4. Islam is a Cancer, as thus it must be Eradicated, World Wide ASAP!
Islam is NOT a religion, maybe a cult at most, but more of a Political system then a Religion
Since the start of islam, 270 million People have been killed by muslims world wide, it is not a religion of peace.
To back up my facts watch this video and see for yourself – https://youtu.be/t_Qpy0mXg8Y

  5. We condemn the woman Sukkarieh for her querellous behaviour and trying to impose garmenst of undesirable cultures in the United States. She can go back where she comes from where they enjoy this garment of oppression on women, but girl do not impose it on others, specially if your are not a true American. And try to get a student expelled on top of that, you are not going to make any friends in North America.

  6. Make no mistake: hijab has nothing to do with modesty or piety. It is about open defecation in the desert. A visit to sunnah.com to look up “recognized you” will turn up ahadth that explain the revelation of 33.59. This short graphic novel illustrates them. Umar, Moe’s father in law and caliph, was harassing Sauda, Moe’s second wife, while she was doing her business in the sand pit.

Besiddes that, Islamic law forbids infedels to imitate ‘slime clothing. See The Pact Of Omar and Reliance Of The Traveller o11.5-2.

  7. Laws protecting muslims while persecuting Christians must be removed. Freedom of Religeon means government does nothing to establish or restrict Religeon. Freedom of Speech means Religeons can criticize each other & witness freely. All Religions have to obey the laws of America. When Sharia laws oppress women, American law protects women.

  8. You don’t need anyone’s permission to take a photo in public. The fact the complaining muslim lass is in the photo is irrelevant to her argument.
She is a bigoted idiot for trying to have another woman expelled because she does not want to wear a head covering. It just goes to show that they try to impose sharia on people who want nothing to do with it.

  9. Actually, I think that the Muslim girl was the one who should be expelled. So what is Ms. Zhu didn’t want to try on a hijab? (different from a headscarf) which is a symbol of sharia oppression – yes it singles out Muslim women, so they won’t be raped. Take a look, girls, at what’s going on in Iran – they don’t want to wear hijabs! If you were offering hot dogs, would you want to expel vegetarian students for not wanting one? And what a pity that college students don’t even know the plural of scarf!

If sharia keeps spreading, you will not only be silenced by the media and big technology, you will be jailed - or worse. Speak while you can!
