LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) – On Monday, a Lackawanna man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempting to support ISIS.
In January, Arafat Nagi pleaded guilty in a federal courtroom in Buffalo. Prosecutors say he traveled to Turkey to try and enter Syria and fight on behalf of the Islamic terror organization.
Someone told the FBI that Nagi was talking about a “violent jihad” to people in the community.
Investigators say he tried to recruit people here to join him in his cause.
He was sentenced on Monday.
That “community” would be the Muslim community. More on Nagi’s intents in prior posts here.
