What About the Good Verses in the Quran?

via Citizen Warrior: What About the Good Verses in the Quran?

THIS IS ANOTHER in our series, Answers to Objections. You’ve probably heard someone quote “good” verses from the Quran. Bill Warner wanted to know exactly how many verses in the Quran are positive for non-Muslims, so he counted them. The answer is 245. That’s pretty good. That adds up to 4,018 words in the Quran, and comprises 2.6 percent of the total Quranic text.

But, says Warner, “in every case, the verse is followed by another verse that contradicts the ‘good’ verses.” Furthermore, except for seven verses, every “good verse” is abrogated later in the same chapter (known as a “sura”). Those seven exceptions are abrogated in later chapters.

In other words, every single one of the verses in the Quran with a positive message for non-Muslims is abrogated, leaving nothing positive for non-Muslims. Not one verse.

There’s more. Warner says, “The media emphasizes Islam’s positive verses about the People of the Book, the Jews and Christians. Even this turns out to be illusory. Christians and Jews receive the goodness of Islam only if they agree that their sacred texts are corrupt, the Koran is true, and that Mohammad is a prophet of the Christian and Jewish religion.” If they do that, they will get the blessings of Islam. Of course, if they do that, they are no longer Christians or Jews; they’re Muslims.

So there is nothing positive in the Quran for non-Muslims. Period. And there are 527 verses in the Quran that are intolerant to non-Muslims, 109 verses calling on Muslims to make war on non-Muslims.

When non-Muslims read the Quran and don’t like it, sometimes they’re accused of “having an unfavorable view of Islam” or being an Islamophobe. Or they may be simply accused of “hatred.”

But, really, what is there to like about any of this if you’re a non-Muslim?

The  Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood is reporting that Gehad El-Haddad, described as “spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood”, was sentenced to life imprisonment in a 2103 case known as “the media trial”. According to a report on the Brotherhood’s website:

April 13, 2015 On April 11, 2015, Gehad El-Haddad, spokesperson of the Muslim Brotherhood, was sentenced to life imprisonment in case 317 for the year 2013 known as “the media trial”.
Fourteen defendants received death sentences while thirty seven including Gehad were sentenced to life in prison. Among the convicted are 15 journalists and spokespersons.
According to the case evidence list (pp. 25 – 26, excerpts attached in Arabic), the evidence against Gehad is that he “conducted three interviews for the New York Times, an American TV channel (PBS), and a Spanish newspaper (Elmundo)”.
In the NYT interview, Gehad said that the MB group came “close to annihilation once under Nasser, but this is worse.” He also added that the crisis “is creating a new tier of youth leaders” and that this “happened at Rabaa.”
El-Mundo published a lengthy interview with Gehad in Spanish in which he said “we remain committed to non-violence and will continue the peaceful struggle to restore democracy.” He also added that he cannot give in to offers that exchange the freedom of the country with personal safety and that he “would rather die for the country he wishes to live under the tyranny of a dictator.”
“I’m a wanted man for saying my opinion and for standing politically in opposition to the coup” these were Gehad’s statements to the PBS. He added “They’re trying to wipe the existent, decapitate the Muslim Brotherhood. And they can’t do that. It’s an idea. You can’t kill an idea”.
Gehad’s family will appeal the verdict.

In August 2013, the GMBDW reported on the arrest of Gehad El-Haddad by Egyptian security forces. At the time, we noted that although we were the first and only Western source known to have reported on El-Haddad’s employment by the Clinton Foundation, mainstream media reports mentioning this employment failed to credit the GMBDW.

Gehad El-Haddad, the the son of Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood leader Essam El-Haddad, was a Senior Adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood ‘s Freedom and Justice Party, a position he held since May 2011. His resume also says that he was is a Senior Adviser & Media Spokesperson for the Muslim Brotherhood as well as a Steering Committee Member of the Brotherhood’s Renaissance (Nahda) Project. Mr Haddad was also the Media Strategist & Official Spokesperson for the presidential campaign of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. Gehad El-Haddad’s resume reports that he was the City Director for the William J. Clinton Foundation from August 2007 – August 2012. Among his duties at the Foundation were representing the Foundation’s Clinton Climate Initiative in Egypt, setting up the foundation’s office in Egypt and managed official registration, and identifying and developing program-based projects & delivery work plans.

It sure looks that way as the two were campaigning, but not leaving tips, in Ohio this week.

A 23-year-old resident of Columbus, Ohio, who trained with a group affiliated with al Qaeda has been arrested and charged with plotting an attack on American soil, the Justice Department revealed today.

Abdirahman Sheik Mohamud, a naturalized American citizen of Somali descent, had been instructed by a cleric to return to the United States and carry out an act of terrorism, the indictment said.

The Justice Department stated that Mohamud was also an Islamic State sympathizer, and that his brother, Abdifatah Aden, was killed fighting with the group in Syria in 2013.

According to court documents, Mohamud left the US a year ago with the intent to go to Syria and train with a terrorist group linked to al Qaeda in Iraq.

In April 2014, he purchased a one-way ticket to Greece, but during a layover in Istanbul he failed to board a connecting flight to Athens and instead made his way to Syria.

Once he reached his destination, Mohamud stated that he received training in shooting weapons, breaking into houses, explosives and hand-to-hand combat.

The 23-year-old Columbus man aloes said that after completing his training, a cleric with the group Jabhat al-Nusrah instructed him to return to the US and commit an act of terror.

The 23-year-old returned to the US in June 2014 with a plot to attack a military base or a correctional facility, targeting people in uniform, according to court documents.

‘Mohamud talked about doing something big in the United States,’ the papers cited by ABC News indicate. ‘He wanted to go to a military base in Texas and kill three or four American soldiers execution style.’

On Thursday, Mohamud was indicted on one count of attempting to provide and providing material support to terrorists, one count of attempting to provide and providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization, and one count of making false statements to the FBI.

The first two counts, providing material support to terrorists and providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization are each crimes punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Making false statements involving international terrorism carries a maximum sentence of eight years in prison.

Mohamud was arrested on state charges February 21, 2015, and is expected to be transferred into federal custody based on today’s indictment.

Before Mohamud’s brother was killed in battle on or around June 3, 2014, the two had exchanged emails discussing the 23-year-old’s plans to travel to Syria and fight with Islamic State.

In February, Mohamud asked Abdifatah Aden how he could send him money.

Later that month, Mohamud was arrested at his Columbus home for allegedly providing a computer tablet an other material support to terroist organizations aborad.

Prosecutor Ron O’Brien at the time asked a judge to set Mohamud’s bond at $1million saying he was a flight risk and posed a threat to public safety.

Mohamud’s attorney, Sam Shamansky, insisted that his client was not a terrorist and would not flee because he was taking care of his ailing mother in Ohio.

Mohamud returned to the United States in June 2014 with a plan to attack a military facility or a U.S. prison, according to the charging documents.

“Mohamud talked about doing something big in the United States,” the documents say. “He wanted to go to a military base in Texas and kill three or four American soldiers execution style.”

…the handout instructed students to correct misinformation on it about Islam.

via Group Claimed Teacher Called Islam An ‘Ideology of War,’ Now Says There Was A Misunderstanding – Breitbart. h/t Iron Burka

The organization that argued that a Texas high school teacher gave students an anti-Islam handout in class is now saying, “there may have been a misunderstanding.”

At a school board meeting Tuesday night, students and parents voiced their concerns and support for the teacher. One parent said the handout instructed students to correct misinformation on it about Islam.

Ruth Nasrullah with CAIR, the organization that originally complained about the handout, told Fox 26 KTRK, “I have not met him and I can’t speak to his character, but I am sure having heard the comments tonight, he is a good man of character, and you’re right, there may have been a misunderstanding, but we need to make sure there is a correct interpretation of Islam.”

The teacher issued an emailed statement to a local radio show host earlier this week. The teacher wrote, “I have spent my entire career no matter what I was teaching or where I was at pushing the envelope of education. The last decade I have witnessed a steady decline of student interest in the world around them. They are simply disconnected and disinterested,” explaining his teaching style.

Towards the end of the email, the teacher wrote, “I resigned effective on the last day of my contract to hopefully protect my students both current and former.”

However, the school district would not confirm to Breitbart News if the teacher has in fact resigned. Furthermore, the school board refused to answer that question at Tuesday’s meeting.

Italy: Muslim illegals throw 12 people off boat, drown them for being Christian

via Migrants ‘thrown overboard’ in religious row as toll climbs – Yahoo News.

(Italy) (AFP) – Italian police on Thursday said 12 African migrants had died after being thrown overboard by fellow passengers in the latest high-seas tragedy in the Mediterranean, as another 41 boat migrants were feared drowned in a separate incident.

Police in the Sicilian port of Palermo said they had arrested 15 Muslim migrants suspected of attacking Christian passengers after a religious row on a boat headed for Italy, which is struggling to cope with a huge spike in illegal migrants arriving on its shores.

The 12 victims were all Nigerians and Ghanaians while the 15 suspects came from Senegal, Mali and Ivory Coast. They were charged with “multiple aggravated murder motivated by religious hate,” according to a police statement.

Distraught survivors, who set off from Libya on Tuesday before being rescued by an Italian vessel on Wednesday, told a “dreadful” story of “forcefully resisting attempts to drown them, forming a veritable human chain in some cases,” police said.

Nigerian and Ghanaian survivors told police a group of Muslim passengers on the boat, which was carrying around 100 people, began threatening the Nigerians and Ghanaians after they declared themselves to be Christians.

“The threats then materialised and 12 people, all Nigerian and Ghanaian, are believed to have drowned in the Mediterranean,” the police statement added.

Duke Univ, Muslim Brotherhood student group try to silence Muslim feminist’s speech

Muslim Islamophobia. via Muslim Feminist: Duke Tried to Block My Speech on Women & Islam After ‘Smears’.

A Muslim feminist says Duke University rescinded her invitation to speak after a student association complained.

Author and journalist Asra Nomani planned to give a speech arguing for a “progressive, feminist interpretation of Islam.”

“What I wanted to tell them is that we’re living a paradox where there’s a progressive spirit in Islam, but sadly, there’s […] forces within our community that subordinate us, subjugate us, and silence us, and sadly, that’s what I saw at Duke University,” she said.

Nomani said that a Duke professor [Duke professor of Islam, Omid Safi] “smeared” her two years ago in an email, charging her with having an “alliance” with Islamophobes.

Nomani said the Muslim Students Association “resurrected that dig” and urged people not to attend her speech.“And so we all know what that does effectively, it scared everyone,” she said.

The sponsoring organization and Duke then rescinded her speaking invitation. When Nomani asked for evidence against herself, the school decided to invite her to speak once again.

Yesterday, Nomani delivered her speech to just nine people.

Nomani said that those who try to silence her think that they don’t want to “tarnish the true image of Islam.” She said that they don’t want to talk about the reality of Islam, which is that women are treated like second-class citizens in way too many communities.

“We serve the religion and we serve the country and the world best if we forge ahead with a gender jihad, a jihad that fights for women’s rights along with all people’s rights,” Nomani said.

Wisconsin: High school writing assignment asks students to ‘pretend you are a Muslim’

via High school writing assignment asks students to ‘pretend you are a Muslim’ – EAGnews.org.

By Kyle Olson

UNION GROVE, Wis. – Pretend you’re a Muslim. That’s what a 10th grade World History writing assignment asks students to do at a Wisconsin high school.

WISN talk radio host Vicki McKenna posted Union Grove High School teacher Beth Urban’s email for a five-paragraph essay on Twitter.

It reads:

–Pretend you are:

1. Muslim male/female in U.S.

2. Give 3 examples of what you do daily for your religion and any struggles you face.

3. Again, 5 paragraphs (intro, 3 body paragraphs, closing.)

**Keep in mind we’ve been doing work and watching documentaries that have the facts needed to write the essay.

High-School-Writing-Assignment-Asks-Students-To-Pretend-They’re-Muslims

EAGnews emailed Urban to obtain more information on the assignment but she did not respond.

Specifically, we wanted to know if there were similar assignments based on other religions or just Islam, as well as what documentaries were watched to prepare for the essay.

A parent of the student who received the assignment tells EAGnews, “I feel that the purpose of the assignment is to show prejudices towards Muslims in America or to invent them or exaggerate them.”

The parent, who asked to remain anonymous, doesn’t blame the teacher for the essay’s instructions.

“I did not voice my concerns directly to the teacher because I do not blame the teacher. I believe this is a curriculum issue. The teachers are not using their own curriculum, the school boards/superintendents do generally,” according to the parent.

“I brought attention to it because I felt that it was inaccurate for World History. I would have no problem with this assignment if they were to pretend they were in the Middle East and practicing their religion. I first was bothered because it seems that if any Catholic issues are brought up attention is brought to the school and (the assignment) banned being a public school.”

EAGnews reported on another controversial lesson two years ago – almost to the day – at the same high school.

At that time, students were given a crossword puzzle that defined conservatism as “the political belief of preserving traditional moral values by restricting personal freedoms … ”

The assignment begs to have a few questions answered.

First of all, what documentaries were watched and who produced them?  The Middle East is known for producing several “documentaries” that are full of propaganda and anti-American sentiment.  Is that truly the type of video that our students should be exposed to?  Were there other videos shown to balance the debate on the subject?

Is this assignment a conflict between separation of church and state?  There have been many documented cases of Christian students being denied the ability to pray in public school and today’s history books have been mostly stripped of Christian history.  Why is Christianity allowed to be shunned in our public schools while teachers are allowed to assign an assignment as religious based as this?

Most importantly, are the parents of Union Grove High School aware that this type of assignment is allowed in the school’s curriculum?  How about the local school board?

The role of a history class is to teach history and not to show sympathy for any religious group.  Hopefully the parents will remind the faculty of this so these type of assignments can be avoided in the future.

You could remind them too, however Beth Urban is no longer listed in the Staff Directory, only a gym teacher named Jeff Urban, possibly her husband. It seems the school has flushed her webpage down the memory hole, archive and all.

A web-based contact form is here and Board Member’s contact info is here.

Keep in mind that disrespectful, incoherent ranting won’t help.
